All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
There is work to be done and things to be learned. We are going to try to get the old look back - or something close to it. We also know there are bugs. A thread will be started to report bugs and then we can pass those onto the host.
Thank you for all the patience and support with this - hopefully this will greatly reduce the crashes and other site issues we have had lately.

Then again, a lot of what he was able to do was because of Hyde and Frazier’s defense. If he goes somewhere else he won’t have either.

I agree his leverage has been compromised and the Bills will go in another direction if the demands are too high.

Age is a HUGE factor, along with cap hit. They have already developed some safeties on the roster (Hamlin is coming along quite nicely) and they have to target safety and interior O-linemen in the 2023 draft.
That’s the way the NFL works in the cap era. If you can’t draft well and take advantage of relatively cheap rookie contracts, it makes it much more difficult to maintain team consistently competing at a very high level with a superstar elite (and expensive) QB eating up close to 20% of cap space.
I said something similar in another thread. This D is markedly better when Poyer plays. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
You are correct, but he’s missed almost as many games as he’s played this year. His earning potential has passed him by. If he signs an extension with the ills it will be team friendly or they’ll let him walk.
A bad injury year on the wrong side of 30 will make the Bills wary of the ROI in terms of a multi-year deal. As good as he is, if I'm Beane, I'm looking to the draft in order to replace Poyer and upgrade depth so I can move on from Jaquon Johnson, too. Marlowe is a decent first step towards the latter.

The guy is a warrior and he's good. That said he is among the handful of Bills that could get squeezed out due to the cap. Hope not.
