We can't underestimate the importance of Morris.

We need to draft a Center or pickup a solid vet backup.

If we can win on Thanksgiving we have a good long stretch for players to heal, will have won 3 in a row and be looking to beat the hell out of NE and take over the division and conference eventually.

3 games?

We play NE next Thursday... then we have our "mini-bye"... unless I'm reading the schedule wrong.

Joe B. (as usual) is able to bring attention to the differences of injuries to (as he describes it) their “marquee” players are missing.

4. Milano and Poyer were difference-makers in a sea of inexperience around them

Over the last few weeks, every time the Bills get one of their marquee defenders back into the lineup, it’s seemed like another gets injured. It has especially taken its toll in the back seven and we’ve seen some struggles defensively as a result. Most of the troubles come when the Bills are missing two of the Tremaine Edmunds (https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/tremaine-edmunds-JKo3MELPaAeeJbLo/), Matt Milano (https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/matt-milano-ZRj4di17FE6yBxBv/) and Jordan Poyer (https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/jordan-poyer-WpZKWArS36a5jGeu/) trio. Since Week 3, the Bills have only had that entire trio for a full game only twice in eight games. The Bills ran into trouble against the Jets (https://theathletic.com/nfl/team/jets/) without Milano and Poyer, and then last week without Poyer against the Vikings (https://theathletic.com/nfl/team/vikings/) once Edmunds had to leave the game at halftime. Even though the Bills were without Edmunds on Sunday, Milano and Poyer helped save the backend of the defense on multiple occasions, and they had to do it with so many inexperienced starters around them.

Milano was the leader of the intermediate part of the defense, starting next to Tyrel Dodson (https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/tyrel-dodson-ZxgTwYMjUwbrPqXE/) who struggled mightily in place of Edmunds last week. Milano turned in a game full of both flash and substance, easily being one of the most indispensable players on the roster for that game. If the Bills didn’t have Milano there to impact the game with his speed, reaction time, playmaking skills and tackling ability, the Browns are likely able to sustain far more drives than they did Sunday. Often, a player who racks up tackles can be deceiving because it doesn’t tell the story of where those tackles are happening. But in Milano’s case, he was simply superb. A sack, multiple tackles for loss and consistently sniffing out the run took Milano’s day through the roof. It’s been a two-player race between him and Von Miller (https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/von-miller-3CFHRgYPasw0E3hK/) for who has been the team’s best defender in 2022.

And then, with Poyer on the backend, it gave the Bills the sense of calm they’ve been missing the last two games. His pass breakup early in the game was a play that their starting safeties without him were half a step slow in their arrival. Like Milano, Poyer had to overcompensate for most of the inexperience around him between safety Damar Hamlin (https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/damar-hamlin-embojMAWMuz1cfqb/) and cornerbacks Dane Jackson (https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/dane-jackson-ZB4Fl2ADVvPTSjqC/) and Christian Benford (https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/christian-benford-j0maTHM8YBIPSMBQ/). But Poyer was once again a source of strength for the team. Even without Edmunds, the defense played quite well. It makes you wonder what this group can do once he returns, and whenever star cornerback Tre’Davious White (https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/tredavious-white-2AJ6oTJrxGnx7gDh/) can make his season debut.

Yep. The two recent losses against Minny and the Jets (besides Josh’s brain farts in the red zone) saw two of the three marquee defenders Milano, Poyer and Edmunds missing.

The Bills had a fairly commanding 24-10 lead against Minny while Edmunds was in the game (slowed down by injury but contributing at a high level nonetheless).

He is out the second half, and Minny explodes for 23 points (albeit 7 by the fumble).

Looks like Poyer and Milano play this week, and Edmunds is out.

The Bills have not played with all their starters in ANY game this season (with Tre’ being out).

It’s a major accomplishment that they are 7-3, with huge wins against each of the #1 teams in the other three AFC divisions.

If the Bills get healthy for the last third of the season...WATCH OUT!!!

After 10 games....

2021 - LA Rams is 7-3, coming off two loses in a row...and then adding a third in a row to fall to 7-4. Then rattle off 5 in a row before dropping the last game of the season in OT. Finish 12-5, win Super Bowl.

2021 - Cincy is 6-4, losing two of the previous three games, the go on to lose TWO more of the next three and drop to 7-6. Win three of the last four and finish 10-7. Go to Super Bowl.

2020 - Tampa is 7-3 after the second loss, getting their ass beat by New Orleans....blow out score of 38-3. They lose two of their next three games falling to 7-5. Win last four games, finishing 11-5, win Super Bowl.

2020 - KC is on top of the world, after losing their first game vs Vegas, go on a 10 game winning streak (until dropping the last meaningless game of the year). Finish 14-2. Get their asses handed to them in the Super Bowl.

2019 - KC is 6-4 after losing two of the previous three games, and FOUR of the previous six games. Finish the year with a six game win streak, end season with 14-4 record. Win Super Bowl.

Teams have bumps in the road. Usually what’s important is to get hot at the right time.

Anyone who is dismissing the Bills chances because they (oh horrors!!!) lost two in a row in very close games and were beat by the Jets and Miami in the same very close margin, are ignoring history and the reality of the NFL.

We will miss Edmunds in the passing game, but our run defense will be better. Hopefully Morse can go and would love to see White for a few plays or he’ll even dressed for that matter!

Ingtar said Detroit’s turf is horrible, but it’s winter and there isn’t a good field left on the schedule so who knows?
