Competition Committee is discussing the RTP

WTH? I would be completely AGAINST the automatic ejection, some refs would be ejecting over a brush of the arm while others would be allowing kicks to the head.

It should be reviewable the other way then, too. Way too many horrible roughing calls that affect the outcome of games.

You're absolutely correct, and I appreciate it.

While I was listening to this (and posting it), I was envisioning the AFCCG, with Groot knocking the ball out of Mahomes hand and getting ejected. Meanwhile, Frank Clark body slammed Josh and nothing but crickets.... and I failed to communicate my thoughts.

Roughing the laser AND defensive pass interference should BOTH be reviewable.

Additionally, the penalty for DPI should be NOT be placing the ball at the spot of the infraction.

10 yard penalty and automatic first down is more appropriate.

With the rules they way they are now, long passes are attempted with the EXPECTATION of a DPI. That is a perversion of the spirt of the rules.

I'm with you on this one big time especially for 31 of the teams.

I agree, with one small tweak...I really don't like "automatic first down" penalties, a new set of downs shouldn't be awarded unless the penalty yardage picks up the necessary gain to get one, IMO.

I'm ok with it being reviewable as long as it's reviewable in both directions.

I definitely do NOT think it should be an automatic ejection, especially with some of the chincy RTP calls they make these days. If someone is blatantly trying to injure- a body slam, attack the head, attacking the knees, etc- sure, that should be an ejection. But pushing the QB down a half second late shouldn't warrant an ejection.

I would bet that soon every unnecessary roughness penalty is reviewable for ejection. Late hits, roughing the passer, etc. if it's dangerous you could get tossed.

Once again, I'd be ok with that as long as it goes both ways and they pick the flag up if they determine that it was a bad call.

Even if they say it goes both way, you can bet every dollar you have that it would take an ungodly amount of evidence for them to reverse the penalty.

Oh man I agree 1000% with this.

3rd and 25. Defense gets a 5 yard holding penalty, automatic first down. I hate that. It's stupid. The outcome would not have been a first down. They need to change it, but they won't.

Anything that’s going to make the game more defensively oriented right now is almost assuredly a no go.

In the case of defensive holding, a 5 yard penalty and a new set of downs is often an easy trade off compared to a receiver beating you deep for a score.

That is one of the more elegantly balanced penalties in the game.

DPI is more subjective and is heavily weighted for the offense. Make it the lesser of 15 yards or spot of the foul and a new set of downs. But, the league likes it the way it is.

I think all RTP calls should be reviewed by an outside crew.
