“We haven’t closed any doors (https://www.rochesterfirst.com/sports/buffalo-bills/bills-gm-on-odell-beckham-going-to-move-forward-with-the-guys-we-got/?utm_source=t.co&utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_medium=referral),” Beane said, via Nick Veronica of RochesterFirst.com. “We had a good visit with him. And that’s probably the extent of it. . . . Signing Cole to the practice squad doesn’t mean we would rule anything out. Again, we’re just kind of going to move forward with the guys we got right now, though.”
It could mean that they’re keeping the door open for Beckham, in the event an injury happens to one of their current receivers.
Beasley and Beckham have different skillsets, obviously. Beckham is a speed receiver, and Beasley plays in the slot.
The Bills currently have four receivers on the active roster (Stefon Diggs (https://www.nbcsportsedge.com/football/nfl/player/9728/stefon-diggs), Gabe Davis (https://www.nbcsportsedge.com/football/nfl/player/60126/gabe-davis), Isaiah McKenzie (https://www.nbcsportsedge.com/football/nfl/player/2347/isaiah-mckenzie), Khalil Shakir (https://www.nbcsportsedge.com/football/nfl/player/67623/khalil-shakir)) and four on the practice squad (John Brown, Beasley, Tanner Gentry, and KeeSean Johnson).

He also wants too much money. Apparently his biggest priority is cashing in, not helping a team win a title.

Best way to cash in is a prove it deal. Sign with Buffalo for league minimum. Score 5 TDs in the playoffs. Sign big with Jets in off-season.

He tried the prove it deal last season, and got hurt...he lost the gamble from a money perspective. I doubt he wants to double-down this year.

He's not ready.

I guess some here refuse to accept that.

I think Beane knows he’s not ready or they probably or someone would have signed him already. There is no question when healthy he can help a team. The problem is he has trouble staying healthy and sometimes causes issues. I say sometimes because he was nothing but productive for the Rams.

The other point made, yes I’m sick of talking about him. At this point if we really need his healthy skill set we can find it in FA or maybe the draft. Unless he comes fairly cheap, time to move on. However, there is a part of me that really doesn’t want him in a Fins, KC or Jets uniform next year.

It could be that these GM's know he can't help this season and are baiting each other to waste a roster spot. :snicker:

If he can play then he’s an instant upgrade.

Yeah, if it happens, get excited.

Until then, seems like it's safe to assume that Odell's wholly reasonable interest in a long term contract means he's likely to wait until free agency to ink a deal. The teams he's been meeting right now seem mostlly interested in his services for a playoff push.

That could of course change on a dime if someone faces a big WR injury situation going into the playoffs.

OBJ will never play for the Buffalo Bills.

And I really don’t care.
