The Buffalo Bills (https://www.buffalorumblings.com/) have had to navigate around multiple crazy-weather events during their current five-game winning streak, and as they get set to travel to play the Chicago Bears (https://www.windycitygridiron.com/) this weekend, another set of complications from Mother Nature potentially awaits them.
WGRZ chief meteorologist Patrick Hammer mentioned early Monday morning that Chicago is anticipating a blizzard on Friday, which could complicate travel plans for those coming into the city — including the Bills.

(And yes, the Lions play on the road at the Carolina Panthers (https://www.catscratchreader.com/) this coming weekend, so Ford Field is not set to be hosting a football game this weekend.)

Nonsense. We should win every game by 20+ or blah,blah,blah,failure.. Just win.

Detroit for a third week?

You know, that would be good karma for losing a home game earlier in the season. I'd say that would actually feel a little more like a home game for us.

Hopefully the NFL won't wait until the last effing minute to move it again, if they do.

Let’s hope, but at least the Bills have been through this and understands what to do.

Peter King had the perfect observation (https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/12/19/chandler-jones-raiders-immaculate-reception-peter-king-fmia-week-15/?cid=nbcsports)of how the Bills are built and the myth that they are a “better dome team” in his weekly “Awards Section"....

Offensive players of the week

Josh Allen, quarterback, Buffalo. I laugh when I hear people say the Bills are a better dome team than iceberg team. Last two games in Ice Station Zebra weather: Bills 44, Patriots 7 last January, and 32-29 over the Dolphins Saturday night. Uh, 76 points in eight quarters of awful cold weather? Kill the “better in a dome” narrative. Allen was brilliant Saturday night (see my NFL Next Gen Stats section, above): 10 rushes for a team-high 77 yards, 25 of 40 for 304 yards, four TDs and no picks for a 119.2 rating … with brilliant drives of 75 and 86 yards to overcome an eight-point fourth-quarter deficit.

So this time do we use the home team locker room or is the less greater visitors locker room our best bet?

Even if you're just a littlestitious we should keep everything the same.

If you've paid attention you will get the littlestitious comment.

Whether you're stitious or not, I'm sure Chicago gets to decide who uses what locker room as they are the home team. They may want the visitor locker room, as that's what they use every year when they play the Lions.

I don't think the weather in Detroit or even here is supposed to be much different, and actually Chicago is more relevant to the travel day, not game day, isn't it?

Just checked the weather here. Friday is supposed to be a high of 52 F and a low of 14 F. Ouch.

In Canadian, that’s a high of 11 C and a low of -10.

I could see the game getting delayed before it's moved to Detroit. As has been noted, travel for Buffalo on Friday is likely to be impacted more than game conditions. The game conditions will be bitter cold with strong winds, but the airport could be closed Thursday and Friday.

Dude, it's going to get COLD here.

It's going to go from 4 degrees Celsius when I go to bed Thursday to feeling like -18 when I wake up (that's 39 F to -1). By the end of Friday, it's supposed to be -13 (8F) but feel like -28 ( -18F)

This is going to suck big fat ass. I'm glad I don't have to go more than 500 feet for Christmas.

Plus we are supposed to get a foot of snow.

Bills bracing for another bad-weather game as potential bomb cyclone set to hit Chicago

A winter storm is barreling toward Chicago this weekend that has the chance to grow into a potential bomb cyclone (https://weather.com/storms/winter/news/2022-12-21-winter-storm-elliott-forecast-bomb-cyclone-blizzard-damaging-winds), per The Weather Channel. Heavy snowfall is expected Thursday into Friday. Even if it dissipates before Saturday's Bills-Bears game, continuations are expected to be ruthless. Current forecasts call for a high in the single digits with winds between 20 to 30 mph and gusts reaching over 40 mph.

On Sunday we have to drive to my parents' house. It should take a little over an hour, but it's usually closer to 2 hours with traffic (yes, even on Christmas day, there's traffic). It's gonna be cold but it's not supposed to snow, which is good because they can't plow worth a damn around here.

There may be a little snow Friday into Saturday, but we weren't planning on going anywhere Saturday anyway. The Bills are on and we have our own Christmas Eve traditions.

They can't flex it without giving 2 weeks notice, I believe, unless it's due to things like mother nature

I just read that the Bills are leaving a day early for Chicago to avoid weather impacting their travel. So they'll travel to Chicago today, Thursday, instead of Friday as originally planned.

At this point I would assume it's too late for the NFL to move or flex any games.

Forward_Lateral

Even if they did move the game to later Sunday, I don't think The Bills would have any choice but to leave today. It looks like tomorrow is going to be absolutely brutal for travelling anywhere.

Yesterday it was around 35 all evening. Around midnight, it dropped 20 degrees in an hour. Another hour and it was down to 0 with a -20 wind chill. 35 degree drop in 2 hours, and the wind chill drop was probably closer to a 50 degrees.

But our weather people were saying for days, "its going to hit right after midnight, Thursday morning."

They weren't lying.

High wind under those conditions is a great equalizer. I admit under normal conditions, I expect this is a game the Bills can get a big score on them early, and then go the way of the Titans game where they pretty much run, run, and run down the clock to get out of there healthy, pulling some of those limited practiced starters early in the 4th quarter. Now it seems that it will be low scoring fair, Josh and Co. have to work through the entire game. I still expect the Bills to win the game because they are better equipped to handle runs than last year.

12-22-2022, 05:45 AM
This being a bad-weather, low-scoring game only makes sense because we're facing the #1 running and #32 passing offense in the league.
This is how the cookie has been crumbling for the Bills since...well... forever.
