Bills offensive lineman Ryan Bates joined One Bills Live fresh off the practice field. He talked about playing in the extreme cold weather last weekend in Chicago and filling in for an injured Mitch Morse at center. He went on to discuss the breakout run game performance of late and going up against a tough defensive front Monday night against the Bengals. Finally, he talked about the trade that brought him here from Philadelphia and how the move was the best thing that could have happened for his career.

Wow... the "heated benches" didn't work for the 1st half in Chicago. :cold:

It was so called they could have burned those seats and it wouldn’t have been warm enough!

More evidence of a very happy locker room.

Maybe he's the team's plans for center when Morse calls it a day. Still wish they would draft one.

That would be a pretty significant disappointment and downgrade. Center is arguably Bates worst position among all three OL spots.

Maybe, but it also may end up being his best if he gets to focus on it. He fits the Morse mold, athletic and intelligent, not a mauler. Buffalo likes to pull the center and Bates can definitely pull.

True, I just hesitate at the idea of a guy whose not elite at anything being handed the most important job on our OL when he’s probably best served as the #6 OL as a good backup for each position. You lose depth, versatility, and quality all in one move.

Bates did one hell of a job at Center.
