All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
This is only a test
There is work to be done and things to be learned. We are going to try to get the old look back - or something close to it. We also know there are bugs. A thread will be started to report bugs and then we can pass those onto the host.
Thank you for all the patience and support with this - hopefully this will greatly reduce the crashes and other site issues we have had lately.
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

Obviously Hamlin's health is the biggest concern, but the league just can't pause everything until we know the outcome with him.
This game has huge implications for the Bills, Bengals, Chiefs, Ravens and whichever wild card teams end up playing those teams. It doesn't seem fair to any of those teams to not have a result.
And, according to what someone posted in another thread, the commissioner doesn't have the authority to cancel or forfeit games anyway- basically, the rules state that the game must be played somehow. And, to complicate matters, league rules state that teams must get at least 6 days rest before a playoff game. There's only one first round bye, so either the Bills or the Bengals will be playing during the first weekend of the playoffs, and depending on what happens in the scheduled week 18 games, the Chiefs could still get the bye and both teams would have to play during the first week of the playoffs.
In the moment, stopping the game was 100% the right decision. Some things are more important than football. But it's led to a logistical nightmare.

There's only 2 real options right now.
1.) move the game to next Thursday and push the playoffs back a week, which is possible, they'd just have to eliminate the bye week between the conference championships and the superbowl (I can't see them moving the superbowl back a week).
2.) don't play it at all and then figure out what to do with the standings.

Best guess, they will evaluate this after next Sunday after all other results are known.

I assume they'll play the week 18 games as scheduled and use this week to figure out the best solution for the Bills-Bengals game. My guess would be they delay the playoffs by a week. The question then would be if they move the superbowl back also or just go with one week between championship weekend and the superbowl.
I can't imagine moving the SB back a week. Logistically, it would be extremely difficult.
Eliminating the bye between the conf championships and the SB seems to be the most likely option.
There is a scenario with the week 18 games where the Bills/Bengals game won't matter for the first round bye- maybe the NFL is hoping that scenario plays out, and if it does, they'll cancel the game, and if it doesn't, then they'll figure out how to play it.
