He'll probably play and get hurt again. Matter of time.

Every time the dude gets hit and goes down, it's like he has no reflexes to try and lift his head or control his fall. He gets hit and goes down limp like a sack of grain.

I didn't realize their LT Armstead missed the Jets game. He's probably their best and most important O-lineman. Outside of Tua I'll be most curious to see his status this week.

Looks like McDaniel gave his 4:30 Monday update and as of right now Tua still isn't cleared for any football activities. If they clear him to practice at all on Wednesday then I would guess that he plays.

Running back Raheem Mostert (https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/2576414/raheem-mostert)'s status for this Sunday's game is also unclear. He broke his thumb in the win over the Jets, leaving the game in the second half and wearing a brace over his hand as he left the stadium.

McDaniel said he believes Mostert's surgery for his thumb is scheduled for Monday.

"It's a serious injury; it's hard to know if he'll be able to play this week," McDaniel said. "I never put anything past Raheem Mostert ... but it is a significant break of his thumb."

Pro Bowl left tackle Terron Armstead (https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/15821/terron-armstead) has missed Miami's past two games, and his status for Sunday is also uncertain. The same goes for right tackle Brandon Shell (http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/2577690/brandon-shell), who left the win Sunday with knee and ankle injuries and did not return.

Yeah from what I’m hearing Tua is still not right and if he’s “cleared” it will be Thursday which gives him 1 or 2 days to get ready after a couple of weeks being out. The RB had surgery today and both their big receivers are dinged up. It’s in Buffalo and it’s going to be cold again. No matter what some people say, Tua hasn’t won a game when it’s cold!

Technically correct. But earlier in the season, he was so concussed against us that his teammates had to hold him up. Somehow, he finished the game AND was back on the field 5 days later. I don’t think the “independent” doctors are as independent as the league wants us to believe

So when the Bills crush the Fins it would prevent the “the Bills won because Tua was not playing” bullcrap.

Tua does not play on defense. And the difference in this game is the Dolphins defense will not be able to stop Josh Allen and the Bills offense.

The Miami defense sucks and has most of the season, but especially in December.

It has been brutal hasn't it?

I think the reason so many people are down on a 13-3 team, is because of 1. the preseason hype, and 2, the way they came storming out of the gate.

Then we lost Hyde.

Then we lost a game in 108 degree heat.

Then we lost Von Miller.

Then we lost a game where all we had to do was kneel down.

Then we had a game moved because of a snowstorm.

Then we had to have players driven to the airport on snowmobiles thanks to a blizzard.

Then one of our players almost dies on the field.

Personally, I think it's a bit much to overcome.

I wonder if they even have any gas left in the tank for the playoffs.

I think Hamlin's recovery will help motivate them, but yeah... other than maybe the Saints after Katrina, it's hard to think of a team that's faced so much adversity in a single season.

On balance I'd prefer he didn't play. My main reason is I think it's highly dangerous and even though he's an opposing player I am totally all set with seeing anyone on a cart right now. To me it would be negligence in the extreme for him to be out there. A puff of wind might concuss him again. The other reason is even though I doubt very much they can win with Tua I think he gives them some chance, the last game was highly competitive.

And right now advancing by whatever means is the only thing that matters to me. Give me the Lombardi. The hows and whys will fade over time.

Just speaking for myself, I'm so down on a 13-3 team because Allen just doesn't look right (I don't believe it's his head), the receivers have developed hands of stone, and spongy McFrazier defense has no bag of tricks or creativity, while tackling is still dubious at times. We're going to be facing higher caliber opponents fiercely motivated, and we're going to need more than a running game to match points against some of them.

They just don't give me any degree of confidence.

As a human being, I hope Tua retires and enjoys his health and his millions. He seems like an honestly good guy who has shut his critics up. He doesn't have the physical tools that Herbert does, but in the Dolphins system (when he was healthy) - they looked like Super Bowl contenders who could beat anyone.

As a Bills fan, I hope Tua plays, because the Bills now need to prove they can handle the elite teams. No need for them to get overconfident by beating a 3rd string QB at home.

I hate the Dolphins as a team (including their ownership), but it's hard to hate Tua. Any feelings we felt for Hamlin should also apply to Tua, but in a different way.

Erik Turner of Cover 1 thinks the safety net that Josh had under Daboll - the slot receiver production - is the biggest problem this year. For the system Daboll installed, that guy needs to produce and you see it in NE for so many years. Davis is what he is, a solid #2 which the market will say about $13 million per.

They are speculating the Bills to draft a WR relative high next year. I think the slot guy you are looking for is already on the roster. No it's not McKenzie. It's the rookie Shakir. I still think he can develop into that productive one. Asking him to be that one as a rookie is not realistic.

#1 and most important his health, even if he is a Dolphin.
#2 and secondary, I really don't want to put this team in another situation where they are re-living Hamlin's scenario because Tua got hammered and is lifeless on the turf posting again, obviously concussed again.

And we still need to win, I'll take any advantage we can get because the inconsistency they have been playing with they need it.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/10/its-hard-to-imagine-tua-tagovailoa-playing-on-sunday/

Tua technically will be able to play after he’s cleared under the five-step return to play protocol. At this point, what responsible doctor will sign off on letting Tua play again? And what kind of messages could they be getting from a broader football power structure that is still reeling from the horrifying on-field cardiac arrest suffered by Bills safety Damar Hamlin (https://www.nbcsportsedge.com/football/nfl/player/63950/damar-hamlin)?

At this point, the last thing the NFL needs is another serious on-field injury. Tua provided exactly that, in Week Four against the Bengals.

Ultimately, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross makes the call on whether Tua does or doesn’t play. Some think he should have kept Tua from playing on that fateful night in Cincinnati, four days after Tua struck his head on the ground and clearly wobbled before inexplicably being cleared to return to a game against the Bills.

Even if the doctors clear Tua to play against Buffalo, Ross has to sign off on it. It’s hard to imagine Ross letting it happen.

A lot of us have said Morse should retire. Tua has had 3 in 12 games. I feel like he's going to keep getting them every time his head hits the ground now which is going to be 2-3 times a season. Teams are going to let them play if they are showing no signs of concussion and out of the protocol. It's on the players. These guys should think about their families and long term health. They both have enough money to last their kids lifetime.

Prior to this recent one, Morse last had a concussion 2 years ago. He's had 6 in his 8 years in the league. Tua has had 3 in a 3 month period. It's not even close to comparable. He should seriously think about retiring.

Ross is somehow both a hands off owner and yet signs off on whether Tua can play?
He pays his contract so of course he'll need to sign off.

For the talley books, I refer to the NFL not caring in most instances. I did get on the Dolphins for the “back injury”. But the NFL is mostly at fault, I don’t believe the independent doctors are independent, i believe the NFL does a baseline CAT scans of all its players but I wonder in cases like Tua and especially Morse do they compare then and now? There’s a lot of lip service about concussions but that all it is, lip service.

But it's up to the player and team to protect themselves/their investment. If Tua was concussed, he should have told them that. And the team should he looking out for that.

It’s not the team the lawyers go after for concussions, it’s not the teams that set the protocols and it’s not the team that decides if a player goes back in according to some here. It’s the independent doctors governed by the NFL’s policies. So if the doctor gives the thumbs up after a player passes the concussion protocol, they can play in the next game of go back in.

Mitch Morse still has eight concussions and your team is okay with that. Its ok to admit you're hypocritical.
tical.

we all kinda hope he makes some decisions with his life and future in mind. As a bills fan i'd love to see Morse play, however, as a human being i really hope someone sits down with him and talks to him about his future and CTE, and he make some hard decisions. If that means early retirement, I'll be a bit releaved.

Tua is starting to remind me of Chris Chandler. That poor bastard had a concussion issue (and an injury issue), and never could get a full season under his belt without collecting a couple of them (injuries and or concusions) and the concusions were a bad issue, the dude would try to play through it while he was getting his brains beaten into portage.

I have a feeling if Tua insists in playing in the NFL, his career arc will end up much like Chris Chandlers.

All concussed players make the decision that's best for themselves and their families.

There's supposed to be life after football.

I think every poster on this board cares about Mitch Morse. And no one is clammering for him to play no matter what. If he retires at the end of the year most of us will be relieved. To me it's questionable whether Morse should be out there. But if he had the same recent history as Tua with 3 concussions in 3 months it would not make one bit of sense for him to be playing period. Is that clear enough?

If it is up to the players, it is up to their situation. Tua is a young player who hasn't got paid. Financial and alpha dog mentality (for these NFL player) wise, he would want to play in his first playoff game, unless he's not in time to clear.

I have a feeling Morse will stick around at least one more year, even the Bills would go on to win a superbowl this year. I listened to his interview before the Bengals game when he came back from the concussion. You can tell he's at peace with his decision and he calmly mentioned his family is at peace with this decision. He signed 2 year extension. I feel he plays at least one more season if not both.

I know things change every year and you never know about injury. But I just feel the best shot this Bills team at superbowl was last year and will be next year. Last year they peaked at the right time. Next year they will have marginal contributors this year - Cook, Shakir, Davis entering contract year, Spencer Brown, Elam, White - potentially stepping up to another level. This year unfortunately we have too many injuries and transitions (coaches, and rookies reliance), and we still have a good shot of going all the way.

Just an update. Tua remains in concussion protocol… how many weeks out?

Oof. Since 12/26, so 4 and counting.

Just looked it up, Kevin Kolb retired after his last one took him 6 weeks to recover from.

Yeah it's been a decent amount of time.

Apparently his parents said he was planning on playing next year.

I'll set the over under at 6.5 games played before the season ends.

I'll set the over under at 6.5 games played before the season ends.

But Tua's concussion risk will be severely diminished when sitting on the bench behind Tom Brady.

Thing is, who is going to pay him now? Allen, Mahomes, Watson, Murray- all these guys are getting well north of $40 mil a year, most are over $45 mil a year. Who is going to take that risk on Tua knowing that he could retire or have his career ended at any time?

As far as Brady goes.
Dolphins Raiders or retire?
Tua don't listen to mom and dad.
