I never thought Miami is going to score into the 20s. Heck in the season finale, the "nothing-to-play-for" Jets allows 9 total points on the road against the rookie QB. Granted, the Jets D is better than the Bills, but, really, Skylar Thompson, without Mostert, can put 31 points on the Bills in a road playoff game?

7 points came off Josh’s fumble.

They picked off Skylar twice, sacked him 4 times, allowed 42 yards rushing.

Their scoring was more due to the Bills turnovers.

They had 1 good drive all game.

Are you serious? I'd of liked to have seen total domination but they were not the issue today. They didn't even have the luxury of allowing 1 first down without the Dolphins being in FG range half the time. Cover a punt. Don't KO out of bounds. If Josh throws and INT at the 5 don't let them return it to midfield. Give the defense a little field to work with.

I actually thought our D played very good today. Doesn’t look like it score wise but the 3 TO’s are the reason it was so close.

They gave up 240 yards.

The D wasn't the issue at all.

Seriously ?

In reality, the Bills defense played very well. They had to when Josh was handing them the ball over and over again....and WR’s just miss making catches.

These were the scoring drives for Miami...

10 Plays, 38 yards - FG (after Bass inexplicable kicks out of bounds) 3 points
8 Plays, 18 yards - FG (after INT when John Brown stopped running) 3 points
4 Plays, 8 yards - FG (after special teams gave up a 50 yard punt return) 3 points
4 Plays, 18 yards - TD (after INT when Beasley screwed up and let the ball bounce off his chest) 8 points
0 Plays, 13 yards fumble return - TD - 7 points
11 Plays, 75 yards - TD - 7 points

Game on the line, Miami has the ball 3 points behind, 4:24 left, getting the ball at their own 14.....

7 Plays, 30 yards - turn ball over on downs...did not even get to the Bills side of the field, lost possession at their own 44.

That’s only ONE solid scoring drive.

The Bills defense played a very good game.

It's the same defense we've seen for a few seasons in a row.

The defense wasnt the issue today. The issue was the offense which is STILL out of sync since the 2nd half of the Packers game.

A not purposefully bendy defense will do way better against the Dolphins starting a 3rd string QB in the playoffs in a home game than they will looking Burrow in the face. Sure they had a short field often because of offense turnovers, but that bendy soft prevent against 2nd and 3rd and long is still that stupid bendy soft prevent that allows 31 points against a 3rd string QB who should have been lost and way in over his head against a real top defense, and frankly took it down to the end despite anything we could do to stop him.

Oh the offense still has major issues, but the defense is still butter and we haven't even faced the serious contenders yet. This won't end well

Agreed that the defense is 'butter', but it's been that way since last year. This game though, I want to say more than half of the fin's points came after turnovers / defense being put in bad situations (heck 7pts from the strip fumble/TD off of Allen and was it another 3 or 7pts after the Beasley pick?)

Then you have Allen throwing bombs in the second half for no reason when the intermediate and checkdown throws are available.

The offense leads this team, and they need to play better.

It's the same defense we've seen for a few seasons in a row.

Last two seasons, #2 & #1 in PPG against. Three of the last four seasons, in the top two in PPG against.

Yeah, “it’s the same defense we’ve seen for a few seasons in a row”...a consistently excellent one (although 2020 had a lapse).

Along with the offense in top 5 in PPG scored the past three seasons.

The past two seasons both the offense and defense in the top 5 in scoring.

And make no mistake, scoring points and preventing pits from being scored are pretty critical in the NFL.

BTW...San Fran, who has the #1 PPG defense in 2022....was #10 in 2021, #17 in 2020 and #8 in 2019.

Buffalo - 2022 #2, 2021 #1, 2020 #16, 2019 #2.

I admit as things currently stand I feel more confident about our defense when it's third and short than I do when it's third and LONG.
