All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

"I'll do anything I can get away with to protect my quarterback."

It was more than just a line with him. It was an attitude.
And it was one he instilled in a few others. I remember when he came to Buffalo...he talked about some of the younger lineman having talent, (i.e. Joe Devlin and Ken Jones). They just needed something.
And he gave it. In 1979, the Bills gave up 43 sacks. With basically the same line, with him filling in for the recently traded Joe D...they gave up 13 sacks in 1980.
That's what it came down to for him....it was about protecting his QB.
He had a rough ride after retiring. 9, count 'em 9 knee replacements, his wife was paralyzed due to an accident, and later in life, he couldn't remember the names of his 6 kids.
You know when he meets Merlin Olsen again in the great beyond, the first thing he's going to do is punch him in the gut.

For old times sake.
We need some of that attitude on this team! R. I. P.
