Derek Carr set to visit Jets this weekend

Quarterback Derek Carr officially became a free agent this week and he's set to meet with a possible suitor this weekend.

Quarterback Derek Carr officially became a free agent this week and he’s set to meet with a possible suitor this weekend.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that Carr will visit with the Jets. He met with the Saints before being released by the Raiders this week ahead of $40.4 million of his compensation becoming guaranteed.

Former President Donald Trump early Thursday touted the results of a new NPR/PBSNewsHour/Marist poll showing him ahead of President Joe Biden by 8 percentage points among independents.

Good. He's barley a top 15 QB. An upgrade over what they had but he doesn't scare anybody.

Depends on what version of Carr they'd end up getting.

When he's good, he's very good...and you're giving him 2 really good receivers there to throw the ball to.

But when he's bad, he's bottom 5 of the league.

Rodgers isn't built for NY scrutiny.

Maybe. Aaron Rodgers is one strange dude. This should give any NFL GM second thoughts....

Report: Packers are “disgusted with” Aaron Rodgers, they’re “done with him”

When Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers becomes the Prince of (Four Days of) Darkness, there’s apparently one less decision for him to make.

Bob McGinn, who has covered the Packers for decades, said in a podcast with Tyler Dunne of GoLongTD.com that the team is ready to move on from Rodgers.

“They are done with Rodgers,” McGinn said, citing his own instincts, his knowledge of the league, and “discussions with someone who [has] first-hand knowledge” of the Packers. “He’s not coming back. I mean, they’re disgusted with him, and they’re done with him. And they’re moving on.”

McGinn added that he’s “totally convinced” Rodgers won’t be back as the starter.

Boosting the belief that Rodgers will be gone, as McGinn explained it, is that the team fully believes in Jordan Love, and that the team is ready to turn the page after trading up and making Love a first-round pick in 2020.
McGinn predicts that, if Rodgers does insist on returning, he’ll be the backup to Love.

And it’s not just one person. McGinn said the entire power structure is done with Rodgers: CEO Mark Murphy, G.M. Brian Gutekunst, and coach Matt LaFleur. They think he’s not working hard anymore. They think he showed up for 2022 not in the best possible shape, and that he blew off the offseason program.

                …snip…

Last year, he considered walking away and decided to stay. This year, the Packers are ready to tell him to get gone.
If the Packers organization is leaking this kind of stuff about Rodgers, it’s pretty telling and confirms what he has become the past few years...a whiney, weird brat who is a has-been and just cannot perform well enough to get anywhere close to another Super Bowl going forward.

                This is hilarious as well....

TIKI BARBER - AARON RODGERS IS TOO SENSITIVE FOR NEW YORK... Can't Handle NYC Media

Bring it on Aaron. I think he’d be a bust with the Jets. In any event, he’d be an idiot to want to go on any AFC team.

Why would he want to go to the conference with the best young QB’s?!?!?!

Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Jackson, Herbert, Lawrence, Watson (maybe if he gets close to his former elite level) with strong probability that the best 2023 QB prospects will go to AFC teams like Houston and Indy.

As opposed to the NFC that has maybe one “elite” (although not necessarily 100% proven just yet) Jalen Hurts.

And….what….Justin Fields (who has not proven anything yet)?…..Murray who smells like an overpaid, childish bust?….Kirk ‘Choker’ Cousins?....Dak ‘choker’ Prescott??

Beane needs to up his game. With Fangio in Miami and if the Jests snag a competent quarterback a third place finish in the division is a legitimate possibility if we keep tripping over our dick.

No one wants to play for the Jets. Unless they massively overpay, which only hurts them.

But if they get good Derek Carr, players will want to go there and play with him.

Carr was really good when he had Amari Cooper to throw the ball to...he'd get Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore in NY who are also good.

Yeah and no one would come unless we paid above market rates. For a QB, that's cap-killing and probably a "I want a fully guaranteed contract."

Never mind that Carr, or any other QB, would be entering a division with a stud (Josh) and another potential stud (Tua), mimicking what he left in the AFCW.

Because Davante Adams, Darren Waller and Hunter Renfro are chumps? Throw in Josh Jacobs to hand off to for good measure.

Waller started 6 games, only 4 with Carr at QB.

Adams had a good year. 100 catches 1500 yards 14 TDs

Renfroe is just another guy, and he played in 8 games with Carr, starting 0. 33 catches for the season.

Waller is good, he just can't stay healthy.

Mac Collins was the Raiders number 2 WR. Who? Exactly. So Carr had 2 good options to throw to in Vegas and one was hurt half the year.

I'd rather have Wilson and Moore over Adams and the crap the Raiders have behind him.
