62 was a couple of years after I realized that my thoughts of waiting until 70 to actually retire (not for financial purposes...I really enjoyed my career) caught up with reality.
When I was 60 years old, I thought....’yeah, I can work until I’m 70’.
When I turned 61 years old, I thought....’yeah, I can work until I’m 69’.
When I turned 62 years old, I thought....’yeah, I can work until I’m 68’.
When I turned 63 years old, I thought....’yeah, I can work until I’m 67’.
When I turned 64 years old, I thought....’yeah, I can work until I’m 66’.
When I started to approach 65 years old, I thought....’yeah, I’m DONE when I turn 65, when I qualify for Medicare’.
And I did. Literally retired 6 days after I turned 65. And I’m digging every moment of having not a care in the world. Although I still have dreams about work....usually about working trade shows....then I wake up and realize it’s a dream and all is good.Comment
