Odell Beckham, Jr. seems to indicate he's been offered only $4 million per year - ProFootballTalk (https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/03/18/odell-beckham-jr-seems-to-indicate-hes-been-offered-only-4-million-per-year/)

“I’m just so confused where the quote is from me that said I want 20…..all I’m sayin is 4 AIN'T enough,” Beckham tweeted.

Multiple reports have indicated he has been looking for $20 million per year. Obviously, that’s not something Beckham would ever say directly to teams; his agents would be the ones to make the request.

Maybe they’re looking for $20 million to get teams up to $15 million. Regardless, nothing seems to be getting teams to go higher than $4 million.

Beckham worked out eight days ago for any interested teams. A dozen showed up. Since then, he’s been talking to teams. And he apparently doesn’t like what he’s been hearing.

A $4 million offer definitely seems low, especially if it’s not coupled with an incentive package that would allow Beckham to make a lot more if he plays well. The overriding question continues to be whether he’ll take a one-year deal, prove himself again, and hope to get something much more than $4 million per year in 2024.

OBJ with a heavily incentive laced contract would be a nice grab.

It would if he's healthy.

He’s healthy, his workout he did shows he’s healthy! He wants to play for a championship caliber team. If Harty is worth 4 million, OBJ should be worth at least 6 plus incentives.

You really limit that risk with the incentives and it starts to look like a much better deal. He wanted to get back into uniform last year but couldn't quite get there. Could have been a big payday for him helping someone to get over the top. Now the mentality is going to have to change.

Incentives definitely the way to go if we're interested.

He'll be fully recovered by training camp. The same couldn't be said for the end of last season. At best I'd also offer him $4M+incentives because you don't know what he's got left.

He’s torn the same ACL twice, hasn’t he? Plus numerous other injuries. I wouldn’t give him much more guaranteed money either

Every fan wants incentive contracts. Of course.

But I'm pretty sure the cap must contain the top level incentive # to be compliant. So not as simple as offering $2M with incentives going up to $8M.

Interesting. Don't know. Thought they operated with an amortization model based on the contract language.

In other words: "would someone please call my agent?".

There are 2 different classifications of incentives, likely to be achieved and unlikely to be achieved. Likely to be achieved incentives count against the current cap and are refunded as a cap credit the next season if they are not met. Unlikely to be met incentives are not counted on the current cap and added as a cap cost the following year if they are met.

How the classification is determined is a bit of a grey area but generally if the incentive thresholds are near to the players previous years numbers the incentives would be considered likely to be met. No idea how OBJs injury would factor into that process.

Report: Odell Beckham, Jr. is thought to now be looking for $15 million on a one-year deal

He’d previously been seeking $20 million per year. There were no takers, and OBJ bristled 15 days ago at the notion he wants $20 million — while also complaining that no one had offered more than $4 million (https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/03/18/odell-beckham-jr-seems-to-indicate-hes-been-offered-only-4-million-per-year/).

Given the current market at the position, he was right to initially be looking for $20 million. But with no one wiling to make that commitment until he proves himself healthy and capable, he needs to lower his sights.

Cimini suggests that a deal in the range of $10 million to $12 million plus incentives “seems more likely.” However, there’s no reason to think there’s an offer like that on the table.
