I'd cut Kyle Allen and sign him today. Make him our short yardage QB and save JA 3 hits a game. Keep the same offense should Allen go down for a few games.

Honestly would take Wentz in that same role over Kyle Allen as well. Perhaps we'll see another move there towards training camp.

The problem with Newton and Wentz is the cost. They'd want much more than a guy like Kyle Allen, and they really don't offer that much of a greater chance of winning if Josh goes down.

If you think Cam Newton is willing to backup for 3 mill you’re kidding yourself. Plus, I don’t really want a guy who feels like he should be the starter. Kyle Allen knows his role. No drama

After watching Cam Newton play for NE two years ago...no thanks. At this stage Kyle Allen can throw circles around Cam Newton.

Three million is better than no million. That being said, no...thanks.

Yes, that is very much the case re: salary. I'm hoping this summer perhaps their price would lower. At even a higher cost, though, our team becomes better with one of them than KA. Short yardage Taysom Hill usage right away, less hits on JA, better chance to win a few games than KA (not by a ton to your point, but not zero either).

No sane fan or media member would ever push either to start over JA. But they are now a poor man's JA (funny enough since JA was drafted to follow in their footsteps).

Hell no. Newton is toast. The guy can barely throw it 50 yards. If Allen goes down, we're not winning anything anyways.
