Draft day swing and a miss. So far.

Would be nice if Basham, AJ, Oliver, and Rousseau produced more.

This is the year for all of these guys to take advantage of a great opportunity.

Our guys seem to overthink the draft and it would be nice if they would stop doing that.

To elaborate a little. Spiritualism is a big part of professionalism. You need to delineate between what you think and what you know and make sound decisions based on the known -- basically what we think can really get in the way. Our management and coaching gets bit by the thinking piece. They have to plan but they get wrapped up in what they think can play out in the plan and it ends up hurting. The drafting has hurt the most.

You aren't being humble when your run-away brain is getting in the way either. Just saying...

                  Never understood the pick.

I wasn't excited about the Rousseau pick, either. He just looked really slow with his length.

I was hoping Epenesa would figure it out in year 3 but he didn't either.

Our pass rush talent is very mediocre after spending a 1st and two 2nds.

I hope our D-linemen scouts have been replaced.

all those early draft investments in DL....Oliver, Espinosa, Rousseau, Basham.....kind of underwhelming all things considered

I can live with Rousseau's production, he's been a solid end, who's had some big plays and our run defense really feals it when he's not on the field. this is a guy i think we keep when his rookie deal is up. Oliver on the other hand, has only shown some flashes, the problem is whenever he starts to string together a few good starts he seems to get hurt. then vanishes for 4-6 games.

the other two are just straight disapointments.

The pick made sense to me only because Basham was a proven collegiate pass rusher who could play inside or outside. The concern that ended up being the most legitimate is that he would just be overwhelmed at the point of attack in the NFL and that has absolutely played out thus far.

Exactly who I wanted in that spot.

Still baffles me that they passed on him.

This is what scares me. That's 4 high draft picks in the first round and our DL is still mediocre.

A lot of things went wrong during the drought, but one of them was bad drafting. We'd whiff on draft picks and end up repeatedly using picks on the same positions while other positions went unaddressed.

Now, I wouldn't call any of those 4 a complete whiff, but none of them have lived up to their draft status and Beane is still looking for answers on the DL. We have to draft better.
