Re: Shaq Lawson agrees to re-sign with Bills

Lawson played in 15 of Buffalo’s 16 games last season, recording 31 total tackles, six tackles for loss, nine QB hits, and 3.5 sacks. Lawson started the last six games of 2022 and Buffalo’s two postseason matchups. He ended up playing 44 percent of Buffalo’s defensive snaps.

A Bills first-round pick in 2016, Lawson spent his first four seasons with Buffalo before playing a year with the Dolphins and a year with the Jets. He reunited with the Bills last offseason on a one-year contract.

In 93 career games, Lawson has picked up 25.0 sacks, 40 tackles for loss, and 70 QB hits.

Makes sense. He played well in the rotation. Good.

Me too. I'm sure it's not anything we can't move on from if we find a better option. But Shaq is kind of a perfect backup for us. Reliable in the run game, and capable of periodically generating pass rush.

Didn't someone post a stupid article saying Lawson felt disrespected or some dumb garbage? Was that here or on facebook

There was something like that somewhere. I do recall that. I think journalists get in trouble when they assume everything a player says on Twitter has something to do with football.

Good...glad to have him back. He's actually a reliable value vet along with Phillips. They play their best ball here and it contributes.

No issue with re-signing Lawson, but it is interesting they’re basically just going to run it back with the same D minus Edmunds.

                    Pending rookie draft class adds.

I truly hope those that believe McDermott will bring a new scheme or wrinkle to the defense are right.

It's a slightly different D, technically, if White regains his pre injury form. Also the addition of Rapp.

Maybe they are waiting until after the draft to make another move. I'm not worried yet.

No brainer signing. He was solid last year, and with the timing of Von Miller’s return unknown this was an easy decision.

I don't think an up-to-speed Tre and healthy Von ever saw the field at the same time last year. That alone should help this D improve from last year.

I'm so glad to have Shaq and Phillips back. I like Shaq's free agent game better than the Shaq's drafted player, if it is makes sense.
