    Interesting quote from Beane

Brandon Beane: Bills want to avoid going all-in for one year and then having a tear down - ProFootballTalk (nbcsports.com)

“There are some moves that we could do that would say we’re all in for this year and then have a tear down,” Beane said, via the Buffalo News. “We’ve been diligent with the cap to try to avoid that type of situation. It’s not easy, especially when you have a top 10 quarterback, great receiver, Tre White, Von [Miller] and some of these guys. Ultimately, we think we’ve got a plan to continue to go for it year after year and hopefully we can find a way to pull that title home for Buffalo sooner rather than later.”

I know I'm reading too much into it, but interesting to say Josh is only a top 10 QB (and not name him), given he singled out Tre and Von.
Would have expected Top 5 or Top3 or better, but wonder if this was a subtle message for Josh to step it up this season?

He likely meant "top 10 paid" QB. Since it's about cap room.

He was talking about the cap.

It would be an appropriate hint to drop.

Beane has made it known Josh is on the block and will listen to any and all offers. Fitting IMHO, top ten is nice but not good enough.

I guess the interesting thing to me is the intent of sustained success without a talent pipeline...patched yearly with fa bargain bin players other peple drafted and didn't need. We don't have young players pushing starters for snaps across the board this deep into the plan.

There isn't anything wrong with what Beane said. Not sure why some fans think they need to spin it. Allen is a top 10 QB in the NFL.

Also nothing wrong with challenging him a little bit to be better.

Pipeline? That’s called special teams and practice squad … where else do they stash the pipeline?

The pipeline should end up with young starters replacing aging vets/one year rentals.

                    Through last season...

                    Allen, QB
Singletary, RB, not good enough to keep around (Cook will replace him this season, not necessarily because he beat him out).
Davis, WR, disappointed last season and a target for replacement.
                    Knox, TE
Brown, OT, disappointed last season and a target for replacement.

Groot, Edge, we'll see but his drop in productivity after Von was injured implies he is heading toward the Davis/Brown list.
Oliver, DT, under-achiever to date and a target for replacement.
Edmunds, LB, under-achiever not worth paying to keep around and apparently replaceable by a low draft pick, aging FA vet, or bubble roster player.

                    Bass, PK.

Those are the starters that have been drafted by Beane. Three players that are considered solid in their status and not needing to be upgraded. You could probably add tre' and Milano to the list and bring it up to 5 if you include the McD but pre-Beane 2017 draft. And that's it. And nobody on the roster drafted to step in and replace the ones that aren't entrenched, except for maybe Elam/Benford from last year.

There is no pipeline, at least from the draft.

Yeah....they look more like they're sweating to win one to me. We're 6 years in already. There will be no dynasty. Just more 1 year fa's with a prayer. Morse...Hyde....Poyer....Diggs...Miller....White...Milano....even Allen with his running....aren't getting any younger.
