I noticed the old QB in Jersey had a calf issue in initial workouts. Then OTA's opened the next week and he's still out with a calf issue for days. It's probably nothing. He's only turning 40. Yet our window is closing, now that our QB turned 27.

The "winning a Super Bowl with a QB on a cheap rookie contract" window is closed. And the organization failed to deliver. The "winning a Super Bowl with a QB on a salary cap-eating extension" is now open. We'll have to see if the organization can do better.

Look out if Miami goes after James Cook’s older brother. The have the cap space (for now).

The team in NJ with the aging signal caller is not interested in D Hop. Coach Saleh said “We like our group of guys. Old QB did not comment.

In AFCE city Boston news.....

I’m tickled pink that the Bruins ate **** in the NHL playoffs getting bounced in the first round in seven games after putting up the NHL regular season record 135 points....literally the greatest regular season in NHL history.

To add insult to injury, at home for game seven the Bruins were ONE MINUTE away from victory when defenseman Brandon Montour scored the tying goal at the 19:00 min. mark.

Eight minutes into OT the Panthers score and the Bruins lose!!!!

ANY TIME any Boston team loses I’m extremely happy.

I spent a lot of time in Boston for work, from 2004 to 2020, and their arrogance and rudeness was too much to bear.

F*** Boston, F*** the Pats, F*** Belichick, F*** Tom Brady and F*** every sports team that calls that city home.

Now the same Panthers are coming the Vegas for game one of the Stanley Cup finals.

Cheering on the home time to bring home a Stanley Cup. Something the sad sack Buffalo Sabres seems like they are destined to never do.

I forgot about the Celtics....actually, I forgot about the NBA decades ago.

NBA is now officially the most boring major team sport in the US (soccer gets that “honor" worldwide). It surpassed MLB when baseball smartly changed some rules especially adding a pitch clock.

Reduced average game times by a whopping THIRTY minutes. Almost all of that preventing us from seeing a batter scratching his balls and a pitcher looking like he has ants crawling inside his uniform.

I still avoid watching any MLB until the Wold Series...and even then, very little.

But, the big news here is that the Oakland A’s are moving to Vegas. They already bought the land where the Tropicana sits on one of the busiest intersections on the Strip, and are going to tear down that dinosaur of a hotel from the 50’s and build a beautiful 30,000 stadium with retractable roof....

With 81 homes games, the ticket prices are extremely reasonable, with the cheapest seats averaging only $11 across the whole league (https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2023/05/29/mlb-ticket-prices-by-stadium-team-2023/70258603007/).

Going to a NFL game in Veags is the other end of the spectrum where for the third year in a row, the average secondary market for tickets (the only way to buy them....or in package from one of the hotels) has Vegas the most expensive average ticket price in the NFL of $1,035 (https://www.si.com/nfl/raiders/news/las-vegas-raiders-ticketiq-most-expensive-tickets-allegiant-stadium). OUCH!!!

Golden Knights Stanley Cup playoff tickets start at $175 for standing room. No, thanks you!! Upper deck around $400 and the best middle ice tickets around $1,500.

Anyway....the first (and so far, only) time the Bills played in Vegas was 2020. I was planning on hosting some family members to go to that game, but, Covid came and scuttled that.

Next time the Bills will play in Vegas (excluding playoffs) is 2026. I will probably go to that game and start saving up for that now. :D:

I am looking forward go to some MLB games. Cheap tickets for a relaxing game. I’ve only been to one MLB game in my life and am looking forward to many more.

Speaking of the Pats, I see Mac Jones had a QBR that ranked 28th last season. Is this his last shot to start in the NFL ?

Yeah. Mac Jones does not inspire much confidence. No one would be surprised if Bailey Zappe (gotta love that name) take the starting job sometime during the season. It could be reactively early if they start 0-4 with Philly, Miami, @Jets and @Dallas to start the season.

Josh Allen was #2. Reflecting his struggles during the playoffs, he was #12 of 14 for 2022. Quite the regression from #1 in 2021 playoffs.

Interesting that Aaron Rodgers was a dismal #26. After being #1 in 2021 & 2020.

Will Rodgers show some signs of revival?? Probably. But not as much as the hype. Tua is the one to keep an eye on. He was right up there with QB QBR last year at #3. Just ahead of Hurts.

I suspect that he does not stay on the field enough, and when he does, defenses have caught up with what he’s good at.

Josh Allen is probably going to show why he is in a class of his own in the AFCE at QB.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Tuesday that the team has called off next week’s mandatory minicamp, so their program will come to an end after this week’s OTAs. Saleh said that the Jets being scheduled to open the preseason against the Browns in the Hall of Fame Game on August 3 factored into the decision.

Report- DeAndre Hopkins to visit Patriots - ProFootballTalk (https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/06/09/report-deandre-hopkins-to-visit-patriots/)

DeAndre Hopkins to visit Patriots
Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (https://www.nbcsportsedge.com/football/nfl/player/8074/deandre-hopkins) has reportedly added another team to his list of visits.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Hopkins is scheduled for a visit (https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1667138612964540417) with the Patriots next week. Per the report, the visit is set to take place after Hopkins meets with (https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/06/07/report-deandre-hopkins-to-visit-with-titans/) the Titans.

The Patriots’ need for more offensive talent has linked them to a pursuit of Hopkins since he was still a member of the Cardinals, but a move to New England would mean a reunion with Bill O’Brien. The current Patriots offensive coordinator was the Texans’ coach and General Manager at the end of Hopkins’ time in Houston and there were reports of acrimonious interactions (https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/03/18/michael-irvin-bill-obrien-offended-deandre-hopkins-with-aaron-hernandez-comment/) between the two men before Hopkins left the team.

Chuck Clark out for season with torn ACL
The Jets defense has taken a hit even before the start of training camp.
Chuck Clark (https://www.nbcsportsedge.com/football/nfl/player/620/chuck-clark) has torn his ACL and will be out for the 2023 season, according to multiple Thursday reports.

- - - Updated - - -

Clark suffered the injury toward the end of the offseason program last week (https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/06/13/report-jets-fear-serious-knee-injury-for-chuck-clark/). It was reported at the time that the Jets feared Clark had suffered a serious knee injury, but Clark was going to undergo further testing and a second opinion. That resulted in confirmation that Clark had torn his ACL.
New York acquired Clark from the Ravens in March. The veteran safety played all 1,093 snaps for Baltimore last season, recording a career-high 101 tackles with four passes defensed, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

There are at least two versions of what transpired on Sunday at the Haulover Park Marina dock in Miami between Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill (https://www.nbcsportsedge.com/football/nfl/player/8826/tyreek-hill) and a man who was allegedly hit in the head by Hill. One appears in the police report. Another appears in a new item (https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/crime/article276613981.html) from Charles Rabin of the Miami Herald.

The latter is slightly more interesting.

Per Rabin, the incident happened after Hill wanted to fish for tarpon from the dock. They’re prevalent in the shallow waters, due to scraps thrown overboard by the boats. Hill was told to stop fishing from the dock.

Words were exchanged. And then Hill allegedly struck one of the men telling him to stop fishing.

The police report, as noted by Rabin, doesn’t mention tarpon fishing. The police report suggests the argument began when two women were on a boat at the marina without permission.

According to Rabin’s report, police were not called to the dock at the time. The alleged victim reported the incident on Monday.

The reason our window is closing isn't because of the QB. It's because of the cap and everyone else. If we don't win this year or next, we will be in rebuild mode, and our QB will be on the wrong side of 30 before we get out of it (and that's assuming we rebuild correctly- we've all seen how poorly it can go).

The more I frame Rodgers in this division is the more I think he's going to get crushed. He used to playing in a sub par division for years. Then last week I saw an interview with him discussing how much he likes doing mushrooms and their benefit. 40 years old, doing mushrooms, going against 3 pretty good teams, I don't know. Yes the Jets lacked a QB and are strong lineup wise. But he may be in for a rude awakening.

Last week, Jets head coach Robert Saleh said on Cook, “You never want to say no to a great player (https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/robert-saleh-on-dalvin-cook-you-never-want-to-say-no-to-a-great-player).”

With quarterback Aaron Rodgers taking a significant pay cut (https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/aaron-rodgers-takes-massive-pay-cut-for-the-jets), some of the money New York saved could be used to lure in Cook.

Jalen Ramsey carted off practice field with apparent leg injury - NBC Sports (https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jalen-ramsey-carted-off-practice-field-with-apparent-leg-injury)

The injury occurred toward the end of practice during an 11-on-11 drill. Ramsey was matched up against receiver Tyreek Hill. Ramsey grabbed at his left knee while on the ground and was then attended to by trainers. He was evaluated on the side of the practice field before being carted to the locker room when the session was over.

Miami Dolphins, New York Jets getting bit by injury bug early in preseason - Buffalo Rumblings (https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2023/7/27/23810139/miami-dolphins-new-york-jets-getting-bit-by-injury-bug-early-preseason-jalen-ramsey-garrett-wilson)

Wide receiver Garrett Wilson was seen limping off the practice field today and heading to the locker room with what appeared to be an ankle injury.

While the Jets are a few days ahead of both the Bills and the Dolphins, having started their training camp on July 20 due to them playing in this year’s Hall of Fame Game on August 3, losing a receiver early in the summer is not good news for a team whose offense needs to work on cohesion with its new quarterback.

Both the injury to Ramsey and the one to Wilson will be worth keeping an eye on over the next few days to see to what extent they will be limited in practice. The AFC East is considered one of the strongest divisions in the NFL, and two of the top contending teams losing prominent players this early could be game-changing.

Ramsey’s absence will likely be a major blow to the Dolphins’ defensive backfield. While Ramsey might be best known by Bills fans for calling Josh Allen “trash” once upon a time, he’s built a heck of a resume with three All-Pro nods and six Pro Bowls. This injury will directly impact the Week 4 matchup in Orchard Park, NY. Buffalo will visit Miami in Week 18 in early January, with Ramsey possibly back in the lineup.

Dolphins to sign Eli Apple - NBC Sports (https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/dolphins-to-sign-eli-apple)

One-on-one drills between receivers and cornerbacks just got a little more interesting at Dolphins training camp.

Miami is signing veteran corner Eli Apple to a one-year deal, according to multiple reports.

Apple, who turns 28 next month, spent the last two seasons with Cincinnati, where he began a feud with receiver Tyreek Hill. While the beef started when Hill was on the Chiefs, it continued last year after Hill was traded to the Dolphins.

“Monday practice gone be fun, (https://twitter.com/cheetah/status/1685386778478260224)” Hill posted on social media shortly after news broke of the signing.

Dolphins DT Christian Wilkins focusing on football but feels he's done 'enough' to earn new contract (https://www.nfl.com/news/dolphins-dt-christian-wilkins-focusing-on-football-but-feels-he-s-done-enough-to)

Dolphins DT Christian Wilkins (https://www.nfl.com/players/christian-wilkins/) appears to be next in line to cash in and believes he should be, even if he intends to keep the focus on Miami's work as a team.
"The biggest thing with that, all that stuff, I just try to focus as much on ball as possible and leave all that other stuff up to the organization and my representation and just control what I can control with my guys and with this team," Wilkins said regarding his contract situation on Saturday, per the team transcript. "I definitely feel like I've done enough and done a lot to earn a new deal and a new contract; but again, I'm just focusing on ball and improving every day and just giving my all to this organization and hopefully they'll give their all back to me."

Dolphins teammates see "total package" in rookie RB De'Von Achane - NBC Sports (https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/dolphins-teammates-see-total-package-in-rookie-rb-devon-achane)

“I’ve seen him running between tackles and break tackles (https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/sports/nfl/2023/08/08/dolphins-rookie-devon-achane-creates-buzz-man-hes-going-to-be-good/70549194007/) and stay on his feet and do a lot of amazing stuff this camp,” Waddle said, via Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post. “I’m like, ‘Man, he’s going to be good.’”
The Dolphins have several other running backs to go with the lingering possibility that Cook could join the group, so it remains to be seen how much Achane will be on the field. If the reviews keep sounding as good as this round, it’s a good bet that the rookie will have a big role right away.

It will be a tall order for De'Von Achane to carve out a meaningful role with Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr ahead of him. Plus both RBs are held in high regard by HC Mike McDaniel and are very familiar with his offense going back to their time in San Fran.

And if I'm not mistaken, they still have some decent role players in the mix like Ahmed Salvon and Myles Gaskin. Unless they've been released and I missed it.

He may be done but I will always remeber him for what he did when the Buckeyes won the title in 2014. Starting with the BIG 10 championship game and the 2 playoff games, he ran for 230, 240 and 248 yards. Will never forget how he carried them to the title.
