    “From the neck up”

No one doubts the raw athletic talent of Bills defensive lineman Ed Oliver. It’s that raw talent that made him the ninth overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. But the Bills would like to see Oliver develop a mental approach to the game that matches his physical skills.
Bills defensive line coach Eric Washington suggested that what Oliver needs to do to take his game to the next level is mostly about the preparation that takes place off the field.

I guess that would explain Oliver's inconsistency, if he studies film less and tries to get by on physical talent more. Hopefully that's the remedy and he has an explosion of a break-out year.

No need to discuss resigning him. After this he won’t be sticking around

They should have known this before drafting him.

Beane chose Oliver over Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence, and Jeffrey Simmons in that draft. Oliver is definitely the 4th best dt amongst that group. Major swing and a miss imo. But I'm hoping he balls out in his contract year.

Beane is becoming the poster boy for one of Marv's tidbits of wisdom..."Once you get a reputation for getting up early, you can sleep in all you want". Beane hit on Josh Allen his first draft, first pick, and since then he gets all kinds of credit for drafting under-achievers and back-ups.
