What to expect from RT Spencer Brown?

Brown admits his play was “miserable” during the 2022 season. He finished last year ranked 54th out of 57 offensive tackles who logged at least 670 snaps last year, earning a grade of 53.4 according to Pro Football Focus. His pass protection was especially suspect, as Brown allowed 50 quarterback pressures, tied for fifth-most among all tackles. But his play improved towards the end of the season, with Brown earning grades between 67.9 and 69. Can Brown build upon his late-season success and revert back to the form he displayed during a promising rookie season?

Plus, can running back James Cook live up to his lofty potential, and will Nyheim Hines, Cook’s backfield mate, receive a larger role on Buffalo’s offense?

I expect him to continue to struggle with back issues, and need to be replaced sooner rather than later.

I think sometimes we as fans have too little understanding of the way injuries and surgery can affect play during the months following. The question could be asked, "Why didn't the Bills bring in someone to play if Brown was so bad?" I don't know the answer, but I do remember the Bills had cap issues last season too, and it's tough to get a quality offensive tackle on the cheap. I think there is also some truth to the notion that a player coming back from injury/surgery needs time on the field to play through the physical challenges of coming back.

Looking forward, I just hope his play is better this season and that YardRat is wrong in his prognosis of Brown's future.

I don't think his body can handle the weight. If not back it will be ankle...foot...

Injury though yes...in any case. Would be happy to be wrong.

He'll be ok. Thouroughbred horses sit 1000 lbs on tiny ankles and run 40 mph. Spencer will bounce back

I don't think weight is an issue for Brown. He's listed at 311 lbs, which isn't that heavy for a 6'-8" frame. A lot of O-lineman seem to carry extra unhealthy weight, but I'd say Brown is the opposite. He looks lean and well proportioned for his size.

Brown's issue is that he came into the league as a very raw prospect that couldn't afford to miss so much offseason work in year 2. It hurt his development, but the ability and upside is clearly there. I'm expecting significant improvement in year 3.

this is the make or break year for Brown, I suspect if he doesn't improve from his 1st 2 years we will be in the market for a upgrade,, as far as Cook go's he might get put down a notch or 2 with the addition of Harris.. Harris is a proven back who is young but must stay healthy, also a much better pass blocking back than Cook will ever be, as far as Hines go's he will never be nothing more than a special team guy IF HE MAKES THE TEAM....

I expect Brown to dominate this year. Bean talked him up big time in his PC's.
