Boogie Basham knows he may be on the hot seat

“This year can either set you up for life or set you up somewhere else,” he said. “I got that mindset, whether it’s at Buffalo or somewhere else, I got to set myself up to be great somewhere.

Surprised no one mentioned Epenesa. Isn't he in his contract year?

Great story based on an actual conversation with the player. Good Bills beat reporter reporting.

    Thanks for posting it.

Boggie and a bunch more regulars may be done here after camp.

The sheer amount of signings at multiple positions assured that. No more same old same old.

Early cut? Nah, he’s cheap. Trade bait potential to land a Vet somewhere? Doubt it. Boogie’s last stand ? Probably.

                Me too.

It’s fantastic that the Bills have a very real competition for DE spots. They usually carry five on the roster. Depending on if Von Miller starts the year on PUP or IR, complicates the issue.

Right now, the only spots that are almost 100% sure are Von Miller (eventually if not from day one), Rousseau and Leo Floyd.

The other two spots are going to be a dog fight between Epenesa, Basham, Lawson and Ray.

I suspect (but by no means sure) that Epenesa and Basham will be the victors. Ray and Lawson odd men out.

My take is that Boogie got upset when Floyd is signed. From another angle, he knows Floyd is better than him and his status on the Bills team is in jeopardy, at a minimum, play time cut significantly. As a 3rd year man without regular playing time ... the future is not looking great.

My guess is the Bills will still put Von on PUP. So Rousseau, Floyd starters, Epenesa, Basham backups (not much difference though because McDermott rotates heavily). Lawson also makes it like last year, as an injury insurance (which actually wound up with the highest snap count among DEs).

Been thinking about this. It may be whoever is cheapest stays. (After Von, Floyd and Groot)

They’ll all break camp but when Von comes off the PUP or IR list, one will go.
