    2023 Kwame Cavil Award

It is that time of year - training camp is here

Every year, there is a player that flashes in training camp - generally an undrafted rookie free agent

The players looks great in camp and in pre-season games, beating up other teams lower level camp players. Then the player gets cut, people freak out and then the player ends up on the practice squad with perhaps a few spot appearances with a NFL team and then fades away into our memories

Who will be that player this year?

I don't know if we have any true Kwame Cavils this year. That's god tier fools gold. There's never been a better player in mini camp than Cavil.

We might have a couple Drew Haddads though.

I'm gonna roll the dice on Trent Sherfield.

Shorter beats out Gabe Davis for WR2… how is THAT for bold and daring?

Well....”bold and daring” is one way to spin it.

I’m thinking more like “silly and never going to happen”

Keesean Johnson. He could make it in the league, but I really don't see him making this team

The two names already mentioned in this thread are strong candidates. Mims and Keesean Johnson. Both looked good in the first preseason game. I don't think there is any route for Johnson that leads to a roster spot in September. Mims does have an outside shot, but that probably won't happen without an injury or two ahead of him on the depth chart. Damien Harris does seem a bit fragile, however.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

Can we name Matt Barkley an honorary captain of this squad? I'm seeing idiotic articles saying that Kyle Allen could be a surprise cut because Barkley performed so well last week

I saw an interesting stat somewhere, out of every QB that played this weekend Barkley faced one of the smallest pressure rates from the opposing defense.
