If Saban stays in 1966, does Buffalo make it to the first Super Bowl?

That is Keith right?
Take away Dudley Meredith of course!
I was at that game and Lenny had an excellent game.Last edited by Woodman; 08-02-2023, 09:53 AM.

Collier was not a good HC, to put it mildly.
BTW, that championship game began my lifelong hatred of the Chiefs.

"If Saban stays in 1966, does Buffalo make it to the first Super Bowl?”....I strongly doubt it.
The Bills did not lose the bid for third consecutive AFL Championships because Saban was not HC and Collier was.
It is incredibly difficult to win two championships in a row (like the Bills did accomplish in 1964 & 1965), much less three.
There is a reason why in the Super Bowl era, several teams have won two back-to-back SB’s but never three.
No surprise the last back-to-back winner 20 years ago (and it will be a surprise if another team does it again any time soon). Notably, every team that DID win back-to-back, not one of them even had the chance to go three years in row by getting in the SB the season after winning their second title.
I was only 11 years old when KC beat the Bills in the AFLC game 31-7. So the details are fuzzy at best.
I do remember that KC was simply the better team. The Bills started the game by fumbling the kickoff and it went all downhill from there.
KC was a juggernaut that season.
I found this interesting retrospective back on that game…
1966 AFL Championship Game: Chiefs 31, Bills 7
Kansas City’s staunch defense and Len Dawson’s flawless performance ended Buffalo’s two-year reign
In any event, for the right to get their asses kicked by Green Bay?

That actually pre-dates my interest in and knowledge of the Bills. I know Saban was a solid coach, probably top three in the Bills' history.I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.
I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.
