Which game are you watching? I haven't settled into one yet. I've been going around to all of them. I'll probably focus on the Browns/Bengals in the 2nd half. The 55 million dollar man is a little shaky so far.

Using the YTTV Sunday ticket multiview. Loving it.

4 screens at once. Switch sound with a click.

Niners are crushing the Steel Curtain.. No one in the NFL has better weapons than the Niners. Their defense got a lil sloppy on the last drive of the half.

Mac Jones doesn't worry me even one tiny bit. Philly backed off into prevent defense when they got the 11 point lead. I'll never understand why teams do that when they'd been dominating on D the entire half. NE defense looked good but as long as Mac Jones in NE's QB they don't concern me. Miami on the other hand? Damn Hill is scary.

Against Jordan Love, too. A swing and a miss.

Tramaine got in the backfield one play and hit an off balanced ball carrier straight up. Wrapped him up and the runner still got back to the line. Edmunds is just weak.

Most of the teams yesterday looked, well, bad, IMO. Dolphins offense looked great, their defense not so much. Chargers offense looked great, their defense looked like absolute dumpster fire.

Packers and Bears looked like crap. Saints and Titans looked like crap. Ravens looked meh, and Houston is absolutely terrible, again. Commandos and Cardinals sucked. Panthers and Falcons looked awful. Jaguars looked good. 49ers looked like the best team in the NFL. Steelers LOL. Anyone who picked Pickett to do anything this year is a fool. He's terrible. Raiders and Broncos both suck. Rams looked like the Rams of a few years ago.

I was surprised Staley was not fired after the total debacle in the playoffs.

That game was the biggest disappointment this week. They let Tyreek Hill do whatever he wanted. How pathetic!!! Herbert **** the bed when crunch time came along.

I stupidly picked the Chargers to beat Miami (http://www.billszone.com/fanzone/showthread.php/263759-2023-Weekly-Picks?p=5040331&viewfull=1#post5040331). I had a memory fart from the epic collapse vs Jax.

On the other side, I went with Detroit over KC and Browns over Cincy.

It was very gratifying watching Burrow and the Bengals crap all over themselves. The sack by Garrett on 4th and 4 with 10:32 left in the game which put an exclamation point of the Browns dominance was wonderful to watch.

A fairly typical week #1 in the NFL.

I’m extremely cautious on what to glean, good or bad, for any team in week 1 for the rest of the season.

I suspect much of this is the result of the training camp being more like nursery school than getting ready for a NFL football season....mainly in a response to the 17 game regular season. The last CBA (2020) had these changes for training camp as highlighted by ESPN (https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28901832/nfl-cba-approved-players-get-new-deal-how-expanded-playoffs-schedule-work)...

How's training camp going to work under the new deal?

The players got some concessions here as well, although not to the extent that vocal anti-17-gamers (https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28789027/aaron-rodgers-no-vote-cba-based-packers-teammates) such as Aaron Rodgers (https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/8439/aaron-rodgers) were seeking in last week's meeting with NFL owners. There will be a limit of 16 padded practices in camp, and no more than three in a row. (The previous limit was 28, and no restrictions on consecutive days except built-in days off.) There will be a five-day "acclimation period" at the start of camp with restrictions on the types of activities permitted. After the acclimation period, players can be on the field for no more than four hours per day between their two practices, and no practice can last longer than 2.5 hours. Players are not allowed to be at the team facility for more than 12 hours in any given day, and that number decreases in subsequent seasons. And in any 17-game season, players will get a mandatory "bye week" after the third preseason game.

Teams also are not permitted to add any padded practices in the regular season once the season expands to 17 games.

Couple this with tens of millions of dollars being spent on the best players, they hardly get any game level work before the season starts as teams (smartly) would rather put them in bubble wrap and wait to expose them to real football until the games count.

In today’s NFL, it’s more realistic to judge the first few games of the season as the real “preseason”.

That was the worst part. He got a huge contract to go get his team a FG and win games like that. If the game had been reversed Tua would have.
