Damar Hamlin (https://www.nfl.com/players/damar-hamlin/)'s inspirational return for the 2023 season will be put on hold.

The Buffalo Bills safety is expected to be inactive tonight as a healthy scratch versus (https://www.nfl.com/games/bills-at-jets-2023-reg-1) the New York Jets, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported Monday morning, per sources informed of the situation.

It's simply a numbers crunch in the Bills' deep defensive backfield, Garafolo added, and Hamlin could be active on game day in the coming weeks.

Canadian'eh!

Im surprised he’s not active because of the storyline and media interest.

But, I’m not surprised he’s 5th on the depth chart. He’s a liability in coverage.

Keeps from being a distraction. Honestly, I don't think he makes the team if last year didn't happen.

He’s a liability in coverage.

Unfortunately that will always be the case.

So, all the predictions that player decisions by the Bills would be made because of media attention and storyline instead of doing what’s best to win are found to be woefully off the mark.

No surprise to me.

Not really. I think the only reason Hamlin made the team is the fear of the media backlash that would occur if they cut him.

Good point.

Good point.

I could be wrong, but it's not usual that a team carries 5 safeties, is it?
