    Thinking about Tre White's injury

It's pretty much a given that he has a torn Achilles tendon though the team hasn't made it official. A torn Achilles is typically the injury that takes the longest recovery and rehab of any of the common injuries for athletes. I seem to remember, however, that an athlete a while ago has an Achilles tear and had some radical new surgery that reduced his rehab/recovery to a period of months rather than a whole year. I think it is a given that White is gone for the season. What I'm hoping is that they can do something that will enable him to be ready at the start of the 2024 season rather than being limited deep into the 2024 season. Anyone else remember hearing anything about this?
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

I think RB Cam Akers tore his achilles during training camp a couple years ago and ended up returning late in the year. and played in the playoffs. I want to say there was also a Ravens defender a few years back that had a similar recovery.

I feel terrible for Tre, but he could recover from this quicker than his ACL injury. It's still season ending, but I'd expect him to be ready for 2024 with how hard he works.

The surgery is called a speed bridge and it's the one Rodger's just had that he's trying to come back this year with.

        Here's the quick rundown
Wake up, brush your teeth, and get ready for a day of hating the Dolphins. Or the Pats? How to choose?

I hate to say it, but I cannot see White coming back from this.

He'll be back, just not this year. Next year he will be fine. The new surgery is a lot better and Achilles is no longer a death sentence in the NFL.

There's some stuff we need to know first.

What is the extent of the tear? Is it complete or partial?

Where did the tear occur? Did it detach from the calcaneus or was it up the tendon?

Is there bone involvement? Sometimes when tendons tear from the insertion to bone, you get fragments.

I doubt it's partial just by his reaction

Yes but also on replay did not look like he severely strained it either so who knows. PUP for 4 months and see what happens.

We need to get that kid back we drafted for Depth.

Hopefully this opens the organizations eyes to the lack of depth at the corner position.

                            His season is over.

The Bills will have to make some hard choices about how much they will invest in him further. His cap number is big and sadly due to injuries he has missed a lot of time and add in age factors and so on, they may decide it’s better to move on.

im not sure how the cap works in that situation and there’d be an injury settlement of course

I doubt that. Not to say you are 100% wrong....it is certainly possible.

As mentioned earlier, the surgery improvements are truly astounding.

Tre’ will be 29 years old in January 2024. The list of DB that are over 31 years old is quite long.

What is in doubt is if he will come back with the Bills. His guaranteed salary is done after this season, and the cap saving would be considerable even after the dead camp hits.
