And it's made the offense looks like crap. I say go back to letting him use his legs. If he gets injured oh well. This offense isn't going to win anything.

Now we want him running again.
It went from over called to zero. There can be a middle ground.

Yeah, they over-compensated, and it shows.
He needs to be smarter about sliding and getting out of bounds, but other than that not letting him run at all just neuters him.YardRat Wall of Fame

Re: Allen never runs anymore
I didn’t want Josh running. I wanted to reserve his running game for when it mattered most…playoffs and to win the Super Bowl. Now for two reasons I’m not so sure about that stance anymore:
1.) maybe it’s too big a part of what makes him great? Would Steve Young be one of the all time greats if he didn’t run? (Although Josh was running at a far greater pace than Young).
2.) the OLs he’s been dealt have been garbage. When they looked decent it was really because of his running prowess. He’s probably much safer outside the (imaginary) pocket that these jabronis (don’t) create for him.
until Beane gets off his overcompensated ass and builds a line worthy of Allen’s ability maybe it’s best to let Josh run a few designed runs per game and more bootlegs.

Re: Allen never runs anymore
Josh should run as much as he wants without taking hits. Hits are for the playoffs. Watch Mahomes and Jackson they're running. Josh's injuries have all come from the pocket. Plus his threat opens up the field. And it wins us games. There have been multiple instances where he had 10+ yards of open field ahead of him and he threw an incompletion. Let Josh be Josh.Lou Saban: You can get it done, you can get it done. And what’s more, you’ve gotta get it done.

I don’t know why protecting himself means he needs to stop running. It’s not the running that made us all cringe. It was taking stupid hits at the end of runs.
Run. And slide.Wake up, brush your teeth, and get ready for a day of hating the Dolphins. Or the Pats? How to choose?
