    What about Bowels?

    As our next defensive coordinator?

He's one of those, Great coordinator, lousy head coach type of coaches.

He is a good defensive mind, soft spoken, players seem to love him.

I think it's clear that Fraiser is not coming back.

And Opie can't do it all on his own.

The Bucs are terrible and will probably rebuild next year, starting with letting he and Mayfield go.

The Pegulas seem to like to hire guys they played the previous season...Diggs comes to mind. Call it an pseudo-audition.

Maybe he brings a LB or a corner with him.

    Thoughts?

      Could do worse.

I am not really upset at the Defense this year, it's much more aggressive, especially in obvious passing situations, and they've been hit with a slew of major injuries. What concerns me is McDermott's ability to do both. His game management hasn't improved year over year, and I'm not so sure he can be both the DC and Head Coach.

        Sure.

We need an offensive Head Coach anyway.

                Bowles = McDermott...and vice versa...

2 guys who have no business being NFL head coaches, anywhere.

The idea though sound in theory wouldn’t fly because McDermott would make a new DC continue to run his (Opies) defense.

We won’t get any real change in D style until McD is gone. But watching Cleveland play D this year really makes me miss that one year we had Schwartz as DC. His D doesn’t give an inch without a fight.

I'd be OK with Bowles as the DC, he's solid. I think he used a 4-3 with the Jets.

                        This.

I've always loved Bowles as a DC, I think he's outstanding, and he's a creative, adaptive defensive mind. He runs a positionless, dynamic D which will use any number of alignments (2, 3, 4 linemen), he adjusts to his personnel, he's aggressive and flexible. I remember an Arizona game winding down, close, opponent got the ball with good field position around the 40, and his D hellbent blitzed every down, from everywhere, marching them backward to their goal line. It was insanely fierce, and totally dictated their win with killer instinct.

McDermott is plug and play, has become tight collar conservative in his methodology. Total mismatch.

I don't know what happens but McDermott won't ever leave his comfort zone. He continuously proves it.
