FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The six Super Bowl banners are pinned to the wall of the south end of Gillette Stadium, directly in sightline from the entrance under the replica lighthouse. They intend to demonstrate the majesty of the New England Patriots. They hang there now as vestiges of a bygone season, like brown leaves falling in Massachusetts autumn.

So much of what made the Patriots a dynastic force for 20 years remains in plain sight. Bill Belichick stalks the sideline in a hoodie. The roster is dotted with players who contributed to Lombardi Trophies. The stadium walls are decorated with images of recent glories. It is enough to make one believe the Patriots’ excellence exists in the present tense. “In teams past and this team, there’s no big difference at all,” veteran defensive lineman Lawrence Guy said.

I hope they start winning. Can't have Caleb Williams anywhere near them

Caleb Williams is more USC trash.

But, the Pats have a fallen empire. We have an empire that never was.

In that case maybe your team could do their part like we did.
