To me the punter is a very very key contributor.

He puts the opponent in poor field position.

The defense gets off the field sooner.

The offense gets better field position.

The offense punts less.

The offense scores.

The punter can be your MVP in a way.

Bottom line punting is points and after all that's the key.

Of all the punters that have played in 8 games games or more, Sam Martin has made the SECOND LEAST punts...24. One less than Bryan Anger, DAL with 23 in ONE LESS GAME.

Average Punt per game…guess who is #1???

Sam Martin. 2.67 per game.

Average number of punts across the whole NFL???? 4.18 per game

Most punts per game AVG??….NYJ Morstead 5.88 per game. More than TWICE as many as Martin.

Martin is going nowhere this year. We'd have a 2.5m cap hit if we cut him now which is a non starter. After the season the dead cap drops to 800k which is feasible if you decided you had a cheaper upgrade like Punt God.
