Why can't Josh call his own plays in a hurry-up offense

Jim Kelley did that and he was very effective. I think Josh may be a bit 'sharper' than Kelly and he has a great feel for what is going on the field. The great Ted Marchibroda let Jimbo do his thing. Why not Josh??

    Maybe he does.
Maybe he doesn't because he isn't sharper.
Maybe he does but the package is limited.

We don’t have a lot of insight into Josh’s aptitude. He doesn’t always make the right protection call or proper read. My guess is him calling the plays isn’t happening.

Who was the last QB to call his own plays? Manning? I don’t even think Brady did it. Offenses and defenses are a lot more complicated than when Kelly was calling plays.

You better have a great Center .... depending on the play call ........ blocking assignments are critical and there was none better at that than Kent Hull ..... it ain't all the QB.

McDermott doesn't have the cojones to direct up tempo consistently, much less no huddle. Dorsey isn't going to defy his boss, Allen is going to keep trying to be a team guy.

McDermott doesn't unleash anything, he's motivational, not adaptive, and brakes when the gas pedal is needed because he's escared of screwing up what he probably already did.

If you let Josh call the plays he'll call for Heroball all game. He's too emotional .
