Joe Brady: We feed off Josh Allen having fun out there

Joe Brady had a simple focus for his first game as the Bills offensive coordinator.

Brady had been the quarterbacks coach before he replaced Ken Dorsey as the coordinator after the Bills fired Dorsey last week. Given that background, it’s not a shock that his plan for his first game involved getting Josh Allen on track.

Allen threw three touchdowns in a 32-6 win over the Jets and Brady said on Monday that the entire team got a lift from seeing Allen recover his form in the AFC East matchup.

“I just wanted him to be Josh Allen,” Brady said, via the team’s website. “The fun, the excitement that he kind of plays with — like I feed off of it. At the end of the day, man, this is a game we’re supposed to have fun. I have a ton of fun coaching, I know our guys have a lot of fun playing. . . . Not that he wasn’t having fun before, but I think you saw it a little bit last night. I think the guys obviously fed off of it as well.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Josh Allen is great when things are going well, not so great when they aren’t.

Obviously I have no idea what will happen Sunday, hypothetically, let’s say the Eagles get the ball first and score a TD. The Bills go 3 and out, and the Eagles respond with a FG.

It’s 8 min into the game, the Bills are down 10-0 and have run 3 plays. Do we get “having fun-I’m back” Josh, or stick-up-his-ass “I need to fix this myself” Josh?


Hopefully we get off to a lead and don’t have to find out. But there are some really good teams left on the schedule, and at some point there will be some adversity. We’ll see if Josh is back when we see how he responds.

He's refreshing. Seems genuinely approachable. This team has played so tight under Dorsey and even under Daboll. Hoping McD just rides with this kid and sees what happens.

Completely riffing here but Dorsey seemed to me to usually look turtled up, tight, anxious not super confident.

Don't know how he'll do as OC long term but his demeanor is exactly what this offensive has needed all along.
