Another playoff contender won’t have their quarterback for some time.

Per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett will undergo ankle surgery on Monday morning. The procedure is expected to keep him out for two to four weeks.

Pickett suffered his ankle injury during the first half of Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals. He had come into the game with an ankle issue already on the radar, as he was listed on the injury report throughout the week — though he was a full participant and had no game status. Still, Pickett had his ankle heavily taped at the start of the game.

We’re right on top on multiple teams with a much worse conference record, our SOS is good

Houston also lost their top receiver.

Tank Dell out for the season .... Stroud looked hobbled at the end of the game as well.

No Pickett might make them better. He’s terrible.

The Steelers were the weakest contending team even with Pickett.

They are extremely lucky to have the record they do and this loss is the beginning of their fall out.

All the AFC North teams other than Baltimore are without their starting QBs.

Now the threat comes from the AFC South of all places. The Colts are surging. They and the Texans are ahead of us both in record and conference wins.

Denver has the head-to-head but their slow start could doom them with three division games and the Lions left.

But it all goes out the window if we don't win these last 4 conference games. There's a chance a Dallas loss is not a killer, but we cannot lose to the Chiefs, Chargers, Patriots or Dolphins.

At this point, I hope the Dolphins lock up the their seed before week 17 and rest their starters. I don't want to run it back in the playoffs if we beat their starters again.

Trubisky has been no better every chance he's gotten so far.

I don't expect much from him at this point.

Never really got why he was so highly thought of. :idunno:

Draft blunder IMO.

Trubisky sounds like a cracker you put cheese/dip on

If it doesn't work out for Kenny in the NFL he has the perfect name for a union leader

So, the three wild card teams (as of today) are all playing with backup QB's. In Cleveland's case a guy they just plucked off the street.

Anyone counting the Bills out of the playoffs with five games left is an idiot.

I’m slowly getting on board with this way of thinking given the way things are playing out

I’m HOPING last game was a mirror of 2021 vs Tampa. If it is, we are a threat to win it all. But it starts with a win on Sunday afternoon.

Good post.

But I'm not giving up the AFCE to Miami just yet.

If the Bills win out (which is not a stretch by any means) and Miami loses to Dallas and Baltimore (quite possibly more likely than not) the Bills win the AFCE. Or, put it another way, if the Bills win the next four games (again, not a stretch) and Miami loses to Dallas and Baltimore, they will be playing for the AFCE title in week 18.

Much, MUCH stranger things have happened in the NFL.

Don't forget, the Bills have owned Miami the past several years. In fact they have a 2-10 record vs the Bills since Josh Allen was drafted. Since Dec. 2, 2018, they manged to beat the Bills only once in 11 games. That was the "heat bowl" where Josh one-hopped a sure go ahead TD pass, and the weird "butt punt" and failed scramble to spike the ball for a winning FG attempt.

Weird game all around.

Josh Allen has played some his best football vs Miami. He freaking owns that team.

It was just last year that Miami was sitting at 8-3 after week 12, and then proceeded to go on a five game losing streak....the first four with Tua, all of them with Tyreek Hills and Waddle and a relatively healthy team.

It's not over until it's over.

BIG, HUGE game on Sunday. It has all the makings of a great one.

As Peter King observed today (https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/fmia/news/nfl-san-francisco-49ers-christian-mccaffrey-dak-prescott-fmia-week-13-peter-king) talking about what a fantastic match up this game is going to be in the "late-window" game....

"The late-window doubleheader games have been on fire this season. Dallas-Philly, Buffalo-Philly, Niners-Philly, Dallas-Buffalo, Dallas-Miami in the second half of the season alone. Judging by the Bills’ performance at Philly before the bye, and judging by the closeness of this rivalry—KC 3 wins, Buffalo 2 since 2020; KC 146, Buffalo 139 in points in those five games—this should be a doozy."

The Steelers are no better nor any worse with Trubisky. Pickett is straight garbage. That offense is straight garbage. They somehow play everyone close and more often than not come out on the winning side at the end. Tomlin has worked a miracle with how bad that offense is.

And now Trevor Lawrence is dealing with a high ankle sprain after their loss to the Bengals last night. No timetable for him at the moment, but that's normally a multi-week injury.
