Ya know, I tend to err on the conservative side, especially in close games.

I'll usually kick the FG, etc.

But McDermott seems to be channeling his inner Jauron with these punts.

I can understand why people call him gutless.

Before the patriots 2nd td drive? That’s not mid field and the pats has not really done much on offense at that point

Yeah, not much of a debate there. A backup qb who had trouble moving the ball consistently. Facing a defense stout in run defense.

Just like you don't try a 53 yrd FG to end the game. If you miss you give the team excellent field position in 4 down territory. Punt.

What I was gonna say was .....

If it was 3rd and 1 that's when the tush push was the call.

But if it wasn't ever 3rd and 1 then you punt every ****ing time 4th and 1 ....... when you are up 13 from your own 38.

Hard to believe everybody doesn't understand that.

The 1st time we were up 12 I wanted to go for 2.

The 2nd time we went up 12 I couldn't believe we didn't go for 2.

Up 13 is cool but 2 scores beats you ....

2 times up by 6 is scary.

So, do you really like Brandon Staley then? He's a well known "smart guy" backed up by all the scientific numbers he can give you.

To me, these diecision are not just based on analytical results. It is not like you going into a casino where in theory, the numbers are there for everyone equally --- if there is no crook in the middle.

For football coaches, you are with the players every day, you interact with them, you run pratcice with them, you watch their practice films. You should have inside knowledge that helps you to make a decision. It's not that cut-and-dry.

that's what i thought but wasn't sure.

that's why i thought the tush push was the only call in that spot.

Josh is simply to much to handle in that type situation.
