Is it time to consider Shakir as the better option. I read he’s caught 100% of passes in last 4 games.

I don't think he's a guy who can threaten DBs isolated on the outside.

He's not going to replace Davis and that better not be the plan.

If we aren't keeping Davis, we better draft one of these studs in this year's draft.

Sherfield seems to be the one replacing Davis as he does the blocking stuff that Davis does. Shakir will get more looks as a result with less in front of him.

I just love the production we get from Shakir whenever he gets the ball in space.

For whatever reason he's rarely on the same page with Josh.

Yeah. I know. What does that have to do with the idea that Shakir shouldn't be the long term replacement for
Gabe?

Shakir needs more touches but we really do need to replace Gabe.

Shorter is done for the year, correct?

PCL sprain for Davis

That's a week-to-week kind of injury, depending on the grade. But it's the playoffs. Expect him to be available soon.

Well...I mean he's catching the ball. In 2021, avg catch pct for a wr across the league was 63%. Davis has caught 45 out of 81 targets this year for 55.6%. His career avg after 4 seasons is 54.5%, Shakir in his 2nd year has caught 39 of 45 targets for 86.7%.

The thing they keep saying is that Davis blocks well. We have Josh Allen. Maybe it's just me, I kind of want a guy out there at WR that can actually catch more balls from the QB that throws them.

Why do you think it's not Shakir ? It's really not Davis atm imho.

Whether he's inside or outside, he needs more targets.

Shakir’s skill set may not get him open against boundary corners. Being a good slot receiver doesn’t mean you’ll be a good at the X. But what it does mean is we’re likely not also looking for a slot receiver this offseason

How are we going to replace that???

Not to mention the interception last night and the potential winning TD in Philly where he wasn't on the same page as Josh.

Is there a player in the draft who can run the wrong routes and disappear for a quarter of the season? Maybe we need to trade up to find that kind of talent.

I went back to his scouting profile, yes, he does appear to be an ideal slot.

I'd still replace Davis.

They'd be interested.

I think replacing Davis and getting more targets for Shakir are two different conversations. Shakir is going to be at his best primarily in the slot getting free releases and running crossing/underneath stuff that he can turn up field. He can play some on the outside which is a plus, but I wouldn't view him as a like for like replacement.

Well that's that then.

Davis is better on the outside. He's a guy who can take a top off the defense. And he's an outstanding blocker.

Shakir is better in the slot. Better route runner. Better hands. More dependable target. Not a blocker.

When you watch the replay of the touchdown keep an eye on #16 of the Steelers jumping on Diggs at the 1 yard line. :lmao:

Shakir is perfect for the slot.

He should stay there.
