    Incentives and the cap

I keep reading about players that hit incentive bonuses... some are quite large. How do those bonuses effect the salary cap? Are they counted against the cap? Seems they would be, but if a team is right up against it, bonuses could push them over...
In my day we did not have self-esteem... we had self-respect, and no more of it then we earned.

They are classified as likely to be earned or unlikely to be earned, based off the previous year’s output by the player.

Likely to be hit incentives count against this year’s cap and if they don’t get hit the team gets a credit for next year.

Unlikely to be hit incentives count against next year’s cap if hit.
