    Reasons for optimism

This thread is about just that. Yes, we know about the salary cap, free agents etc

im listing (and please add in) reasons to look forward to the future

    1) josh allen(need I say more)
    2) the emergence of shakir, cook and Kincaid
    3) Torrence with a year of experience under his belt
    4) Brady (if he gets the job) able to do things himself with a half year of experience (not necessarily using Dorsey’s playbook)
5 the return of Matt Milano and Tre white (hopefully)
    6) Von one full year removed from
acl (we saw how good Tre looked until his injury this year)
    7) rasul and benford
    8) a healthy Elam may surprise
    9) overall the last two draft classes have been pretty good. Beane showing he CAN draft other than josh
    10) the exciting emergence of Terrell Bernard
    I came.
    I saw.
    I conquered.

    Yeah, that's decent list.

I'm a big critic of Beane's drafting, but having 10-11 picks this year is a plus.

We need to hit on at least 3 maybe 4 starters.

No matter the belly aching from the usual suspects, there is no doubt the 2024 Buffalo Bills will STILL be one of the best teams in the AFC.

Although I think Tre' White's days as a Bill are done. Two years lost to major injuries....it makes little sense to have him eating up the 4th highest cap space, especially after all his guarantees are done. A post June 1 cut or (better yet) trade means a whopping $10M cap savings.

Rasul Douglas is a better ball hawk, and a Douglas - Benford starting CB duo is very effective.

I do agree that Elam may surprise as he develops. Giving up on him too soon is counter productive.

"the emergence of shakir, cook and Kincaid" cannot be overstated. These are three budding stars....all on rookie contracts.

Von Miller is not going anywhere, and he certainly deserves the benefit of doubt to get back to 100% before training camp.

I would add the effectiveness and continued development of Spencer Brown. Before 2023 started he was considered a liability. Now he is a core O-lineman, performing at a high level, still on his rookie contract.

The roster, like every NFL roster, changes year to year. If you take a look at the 2021 roster that began the season to now, the turnover is more than 50%. Another 25% (or more) from 2023 will not be around for 2024.

Beane is going to have plenty of draft ammunition with 10 picks (including the expected 3rd round compensatory pick).

Looking forward to a interesting off season and another extremely competitive team

            Re: Reasons for optimism

I am very optimistic that despite the cap situation they will win east again and have one of the best records in the AFC. Then they will go get knocked out in the divisional or championship round by Cincinnati or KC again.

Things aren't going to turn terrible. They're just going to be more of the same.

I’m optimistic about Beanes drafting. He hit it right with Torrence and Brown actually looked pretty good this year. Benard looks like a great find. Spector, at worst is a good backup.

This draft might be the most important of his tenure because at least a few are going to have to start

I'm not positive we're going to get too many starters out of this draft.

The only one on offense that get displaced is Davis at WR.

                Defense?

If Von is healthy there isn't going to be an edge guy that bumps him or Groot. DT? Linebacker? Probably not, with Bernard's development. Corner? Already have Douglas, Benford and Johnson. Safety seems to be the most logical spot at this time but they still have to beat out Rapp and Poyer if Hyde is gone.

If they get more than one starter from the rookies it will either be because a real surprise stud emerges or the injury bug is killing us early.

They don't need multiple starters in this draft. They need guys who will develop into starters the following season and the one after that when we lose more starters coming off cheap contacts.

I agree. Wide receiver (Diggs), safety (Hyde/Poyer), edge (Miller), center (Morse).

Reality check: we still can’t beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. Baltimore is really good, Burrow will be healthy again, the Jags and Houston Arron the verge of being very good, Pittsburgh isn’t out of it, and Miami has issues but can’t be counted out. The Jets will have Rodgers and with their D, he only needs

Fix the thread title then. They aren’t reasons for pessimism. They are the reality.

And it’s really ****ing annoying that you’re allowing this thread to completely ignore facts.
