Texas DT is a throwback to Bills great Ted Washington

MOBILE, Ala. – A modern-day Ted Washington is an intriguing draft prospect for teams in need of big defensive tackles in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Buffalo, of course, is one of those teams, and Texas’ T’Vondre Sweat is a man who could look good in the middle of the Bills’ defense.

Sweat, 6-foot-4 and 362 pounds, won the Outland Trophy as the best interior lineman in college football this season, along with earning first-team All-America honors.

Sweat is so dominant pushing people with his power he admitted he sometimes tries other moves that are less easy for him.

Love him as an option in round 2. Oliver would have a great time with that monster next to him.

IDK. That true space eating nose tackle is so 20 years ago.

Im not saying he can’t be effective. I’m saying the pace of the modern game will wear on him and when he goes off the field, good OC’s and good QB’s will see their opportunity.

We as ready rotate our DL a lot, but it’s worth noting he played a good number more snaps than Byron Murphy who he played next to (and Murphy is seen as the 1st rounder)

Pick 60 can't believe he'd still be available.

Possible he won't be there at 28.

Top 3 priorities IMO are ..... WR,S and DL in no particular order.

This would be a Ted Washington today. Massive but with added explosiveness. The freaks that play the game today were unheard of when big Ted played. The speed on these monsters is stupid in today’s football. I agree that if he was a space eater primarily then yeah… bygone era doesn’t translate but these new breed of DTs have unheard of athleticism on top of space eating mass.

I will not blindly categorize anyone based on past comparables alone

Pick him in the 1st round and the Best Available Centre in the 2nd round.

I would be pretty shocked if he’s gone in round 1.

He has a few pass rush moves but isn’t a pass rush specialist. Most teams are looking more for that.

he might go in round 2 before 60, but I wouldn’t take him round 1

                      Priority number 1 is??

That would be a reach. I’d trade back a bit and take Powers-Jackson before taking Sweat at 28.

But I think it’s a mistake to not grab a WR from this draft class in round 1

Like I said in the other post. This WR class is deep with top talent. I really feel it needs to be a great reason if we don’t go WR. That said I’d be very very tempted if S Tyler Nubin is there at 28

If he weighs over 300lbs we're not drafting him. Hell, if someone's over 310, we're not even giving them a camp tryout.

I'll never object to an impact player on the defensive side of the ball.
