This is a preliminary mock. The first of many to come. Just trying to get a feel for the landscape. I know I didn't go WR until the 3rd but I think the 2 I got are excellent. One speedster and 1 exceptional route runner. DT is a mountain of a man and the safety is a ball hawk that can be strong in run support.

I have no problem waiting on a WR if a safety and DT are available early. The defense needs a lot more help (roster-wise) than the offense.

Guess we don’t need a CB?

Corner may be our best and deepest position group.

This.

I have no idea why some think it's a priority.

I think it’s assuming Tre is soon gone.

Obviously the combine is going to change some things, ranking wise, but Sweat in the 2nd is a steal.

Shutdown let me be clear .... we currently have none.

They have 2 "shut down" corners in Benford and Douglas.

Give me another kicker at 245, as opposed to a running back from Troy of all places.

Can’t say I love this draft.

Sweat in 2 is a bargain.

Taking long shots on the WRs.

Kinchens is good, but I still prefer Nubin

CB is not a need. And with the addition of a DB coach who is more of a M2M guy, Elam's value might finally realize itself.

Don't hate it. If we're going to wait to 3rd for a receiver I would want to take more than one flier like you did here.

I have confidence in Beane/McDermott to find us safety help without using a 1st though. I don't think they'll do that. My money is on DL or WR in the 1st.

White is very possibly a goner, Dane is an FA, Elam is a bust.

CB is definitely worth drafting. Maybe not in round 1, but it’s on the list.

I commend you for putting the effort (and to a lesser degree) your reputation on the line.

But, any mock draft for the Bills that does NOT have a WR in the first two rounds is a total non-starter for me. (And I suspect Brandon Beane too).

A WR that can stretch the field and allow Diggs to be more effective is THE most critical target, bar none.

This is a deep WR class, which means the Bills do not have to get one of the top 4 or 5 WR's off the board. But they DO have to get one of the top dozen or so....which will mean a pick in the first two rounds....and very likely moving up to get who they want like they did with Kincaid.

The name that crops up in many mocks is Brian Thomas, LSU and to a lesser degree, Troy Franklin, Oregon.

I respect the Top 100 rankings from both ESPN's Scouts Inc (https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft/bestavailable) and The Athletic's Dave Brugler (https://theathletic.com/5270481/2024/02/13/nfl-draft-2024-prospect-rankings-top-100/)

There are some major disconnects on where you place some of your picks and where these two sources do (the 2023 draft, I kept a spreadsheet that compared the overall rank from Scouts Inc, and where each player was drafted and their rankings for the first two rounds averaged within 8.8 slots...so they are a fairly accurate prediction)

#28 S - Kamren Kinchens - Scouts - #58, Brugler - #62
#60 DT - T'Vondre Sweat - Scouts - #27, Brugler - #33
#99 WR - Devontez Walker - Scouts - #49, Brugler - #64
#205 - Austin Booker - Scouts - #118, Brugler #95

Sure looks like your #1 pick is a fairly severe reach. Your #2 (Sweat) looks like a pipe dream. Same with #205 Austin Booker.

For comparison case....

WR Brian Thomas - Scouts - #32, Brugler - #14

WR Troy Franklin - Scouts - #41, Brugler - #40

Again, I commend you for putting the effort. Well done!

If Tez Walker is still there at 99, that's not a long shot, that's a no brainer.

He won't, though. Buffalo can't wait that long unless someone falls in their lap at S or DT and that's exactly what happens in this PFT mock.

He sure showed me this year!!

8 catches for 96 yards in 2 games.

But they can’t cover him because their corners suck

What an ignorant comment

If you think we have two shut down CBs, you’re the ignorant one. Douglas is very good but he’s also on the wrong side of 30. Benford has looked good but he’s still so young and had to simply beat out Dane Jackson and Elam for the job. Come on folks!

Detox is trying us on.

Don't bite.

Besides the ridiculous idea to spend a second round pick on a QB, both McCarthy and especially Liufau will be gone (probably) within the first 20 picks in the first round.

PLUS Troy Franklin would be somewhat of a reach at #28. He's got second round written all over him.

If we're going CB in round 1, it likely means we're going to (keep) playing man more (surprised me how much we played this vs. previous years).
If we're staying with the zone coverage scheme, than no need to go CB in the first or second round... just continue to find depth players who can play smart and tackle behind Benford and Douglas.
