Started the day 40 million over.

With the moves so far, overthecap.com has them at only 19 million over.

No major restructuring done yet, like JA17, Von, etc.

Update:

Cutting Hines and Tre puts the Bills at 9 million over

Hopefully no Von restructuring just Josh.

Wish we could just erase Von altogether.

That’s great if true…unless I missed something other than Von’s restructure, the release of Tre, Morse, Poyer, and others, I thought we’re still $20-25m over. Did they restructure Diggs?

you guys need to learn how to read the cap numbers, right now we are a little over 7 mil over the cap.

9 million over because Tre whites savings can't be counted yet since he's a 6/1 cut. Technically FL # of 1 under under us correct.

Novacane
03-07-2024, 02:11 AM
That doesn't include Rapp and Trubisky. The site I'm looking at doesn't have them vet. With Whites savings added in, 7 million over sounds right.

No. They are 9 million over.

please, if you are going to insult people by saying they need to learn to read, you should probably at least have the proper facts. I'm trying to do a service here for people who want the cap info. If you think you can do better, have at it.

Tre's cap number and money technically isn't available until after June 1st. That will bring it down approx 10 million.

I don't think the signings can technically be added until the league season starts, that's why neither sportrac or overthecap has those included yet. I'm not sure on that.

Rapp's rumored deal is 3 years worth up to 14.5 million. I'm guessing the guaranteed cap hit is probably 3-4 million a year, maybe less

Haack is probably a vet min for a punter, whatever that is

Once they restructure Josh Allen, they will have plenty of cap room to sign FA's and the rookie class.

Brandon Beane channelling his inner Michael Corlene....

'Mitch Morse is cut, so is Tre' White....Jordon Poyer....Harty....Hines....today I settle all family business...."

The only surprise is Mitch Morse. He will be missed but probably best to get this over with now, to make moving younger and setting up for success both TODAY and going forward.

The "Purge" will not effect competitiveness in any substantial manner. With (soon to be after compensatory 3rd round pick is awarded) eleven draft picks and money to spend on mid level free agents......Beane keeps on showing why he is such a smart GM.

According to Overthecap.com:

Currently the Bills sit at 14.8 million over the cap

According to Sportrac they are 12.5 over.

Not sure where the 2 million dollar discrepancy comes from
This does not include:

Cutting Tre post June 1, which saves 10 million

Also curious to see what Dawkins' extension does. I'm sure they worked it so the cap number this year was lowered somewhat

OTC updated to 1.6 under.

Does not include Daquan

Does not appear to include Dawkins extension

Does include Josh's renegotiation

Also worth noting:

The estimated cap numbers do not include Knox's paycut which is unknown at this point.

So maybe we can get a good number later this week ..... then again maybe we sign somebody and the calculation is completely irrelevant at this time.

Tre's post June 1st creates approx 10 million in space, so as long as they are within that reasonably, they should be fine.

I would really like someone to explain why there's a june cutoff for cap savings. Why does it make a difference? Anyone have an explanation? I get pre and post draft, but other than that I don't see why it has to be June

Is it some sort of control on manipulating cap numbers, so if too much manipulation is done, the money doesn't become available until after all the big name FA's will likely have signed? I don't know either- it's just the only reasonable explanation I could come up with.

It makes as much sense as anything I can think of.

It' actually pretty stupid when you think about it. You cut a guy (Tre) in March, but designate him to be cut in June. He's free to sign wherever he wants now, but the money doesn't become "available" to the Bills until June.

Post-June 1st allows the team to carry part of the dead money hit over into the following league year.

Update:

OTC has the Bills currently with 10 million in cap space, which appears to include Tre's release, but they have it marked as a pre-June 1st cut.

Sportrac has them at 6.3 million in space, with Tre still on the roster

Daquan's cap hit for this year is 4.5 million

Dawkins is 11.5, which I'm almost certain is 4-5 million less than it was before he signed his extension

Knox's Cap hit is now 7.7, which I also believe is 4-5 million less than it was before he took a pay cut

If they are at 6.3 with Trey still on the roster they're in good shape. With Johnsons new deal they will probably be 20 million under once Tre is released.
