An NFL rep was reading BZ and found out we didn't feel losing Edmunds was a big deal.

A fourth was a steal for that over paid special teams filler guy that happens to start.

Two? The way that poster pumps Edmund’s we would be getting three second round picks.

Jags get a 3rd for 4yr, $80M tackle;

Eagles also got a 3rd, losing J Hargrave for 4yr, $81M

Bills a 4th for 4yr, $72M — frustrating, no doubt. If the Bears/Edmunds had been better, might've been a 3rd. If the Bears had paid Edmunds what he's worth, might've been a 5th!

Bears would probably give him back to us for that 4th.

Try and look at the bright side.

The bulk of your team is built in round 3, 4, and 5.

Notable Bills 4ths:

Andre Reed, 1985

Stew Barber, 1961

Butch Byrd, 1964

Lucious Sanford, 1978

Jeff Nixon, 1979

Leon Seals, 1987

6 names in 63 years. So there's a 10% chance we get a guy's who's name is even remembered.

There are others.

Those are the best examples.

The interesting thing though, is that (IMHO) there haven't been any since the beginning of the drought.

Unless you count McGee.

I don't.

Looking at past drafts, man the 2014, 2015, 2016 drafts were just horrible.

If you look at our draft history, when we do well in those rounds, we do well as a team.

The drought years? Hardly any contributors.

The most notable was Kyle Williams. Others that contributed? Terrence McGee, Chris Hairston, and Stevie Johnson

Recently we've been doing exceptionally well in the middle and late rounds.

Matt Milano, Taron Johnson, Siran Neal, Wyatt Teller (yeah, I know), Tyler Bass, Gabe Davis, Khalil Shakir, Christian Benford, Dane Jackson

But only if they give us their 3rd and 4th next year. :D

Beane seemed pretty convinced last year that they would get a 3rd. Someone with the league office must have given him some bad info. That's frustrating to not have a 3rd now after the Douglas trade. So we got a 1st, 2nd, and now 9 picks on day 3. I would expect some trade ups unless they really like the depth of this draft.

The trade up just became a lot more likely I totally agree.

Beanie baby is gonna make our heads spin with the amount of wheeling and dealing he’s going to be doing in this draft. Better buckle up while watching/typing.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane himself had stated (https://atozsports.com/buffalo/buffalo-bills-football-draft-pick-2024-nfl/) that the team expected to receive a third-round pick in the compensatory system and that he was making plans around that in the 2023 run of free agency to not jeopardize that expected pick.

Whether the governing body of compensatory picks made an error here or not is unknown since the precise formula for awarding the picks isn’t published, but unless there is another mea culpa by the league, the Bills will have to make due with a compensatory pick one round lower than they would have preferred.
