Legal tampering starts at noon ET - NBC Sports (https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/legal-tampering-starts-at-noon-et)

Ready or not, here it comes.
At noon ET, the NFL’s annual legal tampering period opens. For 52 hours, teams can negotiate with impending free agents before they become free agents. They can freely engage in what, but for this 52-hour fiction, would be regarded as tampering.
The players continue to be under contract with their current teams. But for the 52-hour window allowing these talks, any communications would be prohibited. It literally is tampering; new teams will deliberately interfere with the final days of an existing NFL player contract.
The player and his next team can reach a deal in principle. At one point, the NFL tried to force teams and players to stop short of that outcome, but it made no sense. Any negotiation can result in an agreement, even accidentally.

Buffalo Bills could target in NFL free agency 2024

3 former pre-draft visitors Buffalo Bills could target in NFL free agency 2024 - newyorkupstate.com (https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2024/03/3-former-pre-draft-visitors-buffalo-bills-could-target-in-nfl-free-agency-2024.html)

The Buffalo Bills (https://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/) are not expected to be big spenders in free agency, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t target a few players at positions of need. While the Bills could look to retain some of their own players, Buffalo could also turn to players that they have done due diligence on during the draft process. Since taking over as Bills general manager, Brandon Beane has met with various prospects on top-30 visits or virtual visits. Some of those players will now hit free agency. Which former pre-draft visitors could Beane target in free agency? Here are three potential targets.

DJ Chark could be playing for his fourth team in four seasons in 2024. Originally drafted by the Jaguars (2018-2021), Chark has played for the Detroit Lions (2022) and Carolina Panthers (2023) over the past two seasons. The 27-year-old played in a bad offense, but still posted a respectable 35-525-5 stat line. Chark’s best season came back in 2019 (73-1,008-8), but teams that miss out on top targets at receiver could make a play for Chark.

Chark’s size (6-feet-3-inches) and speed (4.34 40-yard dash) could appeal to Buffalo if the price is right.

Running back market starts at $8 million per year, with D’Andre Swift joining the Bears

He’s leaving again. Via NFL Media, he’s agreed to terms on a three-year, $24 million deal with the Bears.

It’s the first new contract to be announced during the 2024 legal tampering period. It took roughly 10 minutes to negotiate it from scratch. (Wink, wink.)

The Eagles gave up a 2025 fourth-round pick to get Swift from the Lions, after they drafted Jahmyr Gibbs in 2023. The teams also flipped seventh-round picks in 2023.

Robert Hunt agrees to sign with Panthers (https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/robert-hunt-agrees-to-sign-with-panthers)

According to multiple reports, the guard has agreed to a deal in Carolina. He joins defensive tackle Christian Wilkins as Dolphins players who have agreed to sign with new teams on Monday.

Reports peg the deal as a five-year contract worth $100 million with $63 million guaranteed.

Hunt, who is No. 23 on PFT’s list (https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nfl-top-100-2024-free-agents-chris-jones-kirk-cousins-top-the-list) of this year’s top free agents, joined the Dolphins as a second-round pick in 2020. He’s been a starter throughout his time in the league, although he did miss six games due to injury during the 2023 season.

The Panthers used a variety of guards with little success last year, so the hope is that Hunt will help them solidify the interior of the line and begin building a more proficient offense in Dave Canales’ first season as a head coach.

And while it’s being characterized as a situation in which Minshew will compete with Aidan O’Connell, Minshew also could be a placeholder for whoever the Raiders draft in round one — if/when they do.
