Is it possible Knox could be trade bait come draft day? I don't know much about his contract, and I think it would be another big dead cap hit, and he is close with QB1. But, it seems like Kincaid is more and more becoming a key part of the offense and Knox has had a few injuries now, and seems to be less and less part of the offense. Could he have value in a trade and is it even possible?

I don't know what his cap implications are, but I was wondering the same thing. Kincaid has already taken his spot over and Knox would have great trade value.

They have been trying to get 12 pers for several seasons. I don't know they will abandon it right when we actually have 2 receiving targets. Also after Knox restructures it would be a dick move. He had all the leverage and did it anyways.

No. Cap hit is monsterous and if I recall the tweeted it yet again a month ago or so.

I don't think he's moveable with that contract. The cap hit would jump up $17M.

The Bills would save ~ $10M if they cut him in 2026.

Who would want him? He's underwhelming and drops too many balls.

Buffalo east? (Giants ) as we are their pipeline

True. They did just sign Phillips, so I guess that could be a spot.

I wouldn’t trade him, let Brady finesse the 12 Personnel.

You’re right about the G-Men though, they’d definitely scoop him up so long as Daboll is there.

Better odds of trading the remains of Seymour and Nortie

I’d just use more 2 TE sets. We lack WR’s at the moment and using two TE’s can help the non-Josh running game.

I don’t think he’s untradeable. If someone made a good offer I’d give him up. But I also wouldn’t be actively shopping him.

Yep.

His "pre-June 1" trade dead cap hit would be huge....$17.5M. I would result in a cap hit of $9.8M. It's better (cap wise) to keep him....$7.7M cap number.

A post June 1 trade is a different story. According to Overthecap (https://overthecap.com/player/dawson-knox/7887), his dead cap money reduces to $5M, resulting in a $2.6M cap savings for 2024. But, he'd still have dead cap hits for the next two years of $5M each, and additional $1.1M each of the next two years.

He agreed to a reworked contract on March 11, 2024, to he;p the Bills free up close to $7M in 2024 cap. That sure looks like the Bills have committed to him. That reworked contract is seen as him taking a pay cut. (https://www.si.com/nfl/bills/news/buffalo-bills-tight-end-dawson-knox-pay-cut-cap-space-free-agency)

The dead cap pain was spent on moving on from Diggs. Which was the smart move.

Fort Knox must be a part of it .... no trade please.

Good health and let's go!

He might be a perfect compliment to Kincaid - let's assume Kincaid become a star at a minimum (if not, we have problems). Effective blocker and when called upon, can make a big catch in the end zone from time to time. He's never going to be smooth route runner and the hands like Kincaid who has showed signs last year to be relied upon down in and down out.

Hindsight is 20-20. The Bills didn't know they can get a TE like Kincaid when they gave Knox the contract, facing the potential of losing their only quality TE in the last push for superbowl in their first mini era.

When players sign lucrative extension, they usually don't go as good as the your before. Just a fact. Maybe in a year or two, his $10 million average is not in the top 1/3 of TEs in the league and he gets to finish out his contract. But the news of him taking a paycut is a warning shot to him: picking up a notch or whatever happened to Morse, White can happen to him down the road.

Not interested in trading Knox. I want to see more 12 personnel and more passes to TEs.
