Analyst- Bills more likely to trade down than into top 10 (https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/buffalo-bills-nfl-draft-trades-brandon-beane/article_d0964d1c-025a-11ef-a83c-33fca86dfe56.html)

DETROIT – A scenario was presented to NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah on Wednesday as he sat in a grandstand overlooking a youth baseball field that was temporarily converted to a youth football field:

“Knowing Buffalo Bills General Manager Brandon Beane’s reputation, do you just expect him to trade up in the first round of Thursday’s NFL draft?” I asked, as my teeth clattered in the frigid conditions.

“I think if there are one or two of those receivers there that he really likes, I could see him getting a little jumpy,” Jeremiah said.

But not too jumpy.

“I know the idea has been kicked around of a Julio (Jones) situation where (the Bills) go all the way up to the top 10 – I don’t see that,” Jeremiah said. “I think the more likely move is that (Beane) moves up a few spots or, if we see a little bit of a run on wide-outs, he moves back and says, ‘I want to get a couple of guys as opposed to taking one shot.’”

Has Beane ever traded down in the first round?

I hope we move back, I just don’t think Bean can resist moving up! It’s like a cop unable to pass a donut shop! :;

Trouble is, is that it's not Beane's money that he's buying the donut with. It's the house s money. He's just so flip about it.

I know it's not my money, but still...

Just lick a RB at 28 and be done with it. That way we can explode. Once things here simmer down, Bean will trade up in the 3rd for a edge

Good. I don’t want a big trade up that costs day two or future first round picks.

I hate when people try to predict trades when so much comes down to "who is available" when the picks are on the clock.

Do i think a trade into the top 10 is likely? NO. I would be VERY surprised just based on the amount of capital it would require to do. It's why MOST steams don't jump from late 1sts to top 10.

I think if the Bills move up it'll be because someone they want drops to the late teens. If Odunze drops beyond 15 of BTJ reaches 19-20 then they might decide to pull the trigger.

I like the idea of moving down a little and gaining picks, but something to consider in trading back is how much Beane might value the 5th year option on someone he really believes will develop into something good. In that case, he might be more apt to stay put and just take a guy, even if the perceived "value" has the media calliing it a reach.

This.

And even if Beane were to do what he hasn't yet, trading into the top-10 would cost the Bills their 1st, 2nd this year and next, 4th, and 6th rounders. I wouldn't put any money on that happening.
