Buffalo's defense is downright scary. If you don't believe it, just ask Brady, who threw four interceptions and finished with a passer rating of 20.4. At halftime, the Patriots had minus-1 passing yards.
Even when the Bills did something bad, such as Travis Henry's fumble deep in Buffalo territory early in the third quarter, the defense was there to fix it. The unit came up with an impressive goal-line stand that kept the Patriots out of the end zone in four tries. By the way, that stand included offensive tackle Mike Williams, whom the Bills made the fourth overall pick of the 2002 draft, playing on the defensive line. That is one obvious example of the creativity and out-of-the-box thinking of a coaching staff that added considerable experience and brainpower in the offseason with the hiring of Dick LeBeau as assistant head coach.
