I've been to your city many times. Very good food, but a lot of pick-pockets. We always stayed at the Excelsior, a beautiful hotel by the train station.
We don't worry too much about perfect English here, but I do think Milan is in northwest Italy, very close to the Swiss border and Alps, not north east Italy.
