In one stroke of the pen last Wednesday , Tom Donahoe pulled another rabbit out of his hat in signing Patriot's castoff safety Lawyer Milloy. Were the Bills lucky? Maybe….but Tom Donahoe is always "lucky". I am a firm believer that you make your own luck.

Was it lucky that the Bills just happened to be $5 million under the cap at the final cut down? With veteran help at safety like Kwame Lassiter available in the off season, Donahoe didn't bite on what he thought would be an over priced talent. Every decision he has made to this point has been directly associated with getting the value for a player. Takeo Spikes will probably be the biggest FA acquisition by any team this year in Free Agency. Had Milloy been a cap casualty along with the rest back on June 1st, the four time pro-bowl player would have been 1-A, regardless of the team that signed him. How on earth did Tom Donahoe pull this off? Looking back- it is entirely possible he did see it coming and prepared a sizeable war chest.
