Raiders' R. Woodson has surgery on left knee

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) -- Oakland Raiders safety Rod Woodson underwent surgery late Tuesday to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee.

The 38-year-old Woodson was hurt in the Raiders' 25-20 season-opening loss at Tennessee on Sunday. Coach Bill Callahan wasn't sure Wednesday how long his leader of the secondary would be sidelined.

"It was a new injury during the game," Callahan said. "It should be day-to-day, week-to-week. Historically, he's been a fast healer."

Surgery may keep Woodson out 1 more week

Rod Woodson still can't run on his repaired left knee, so it's unlikely he'd be ready for the Raiders' game at Denver on Monday night.

"On the far end of the spectrum, it's a possibility," Woodson said Monday. "That would be a 13-day turnaround. It was minor surgery, but the only minor surgery is the one somebody else is having."
