Doug Goodwin
An amazing story-
He's an ex-Bills RB from 1965-66 who was featured on Outside the lines on ESPN.
He was scheduled for a heart transplant on 9/11/01- his donor heart was found in Boston- the plane carrying the heart took of minutes before Flight #11 did.
Just as the donor heart landed in New Jersey, the Towers were struck. The ambulance crossing the GW Bridge was one of the very last vehicles to cross into NYC -
He barely made it.....I have to find a link to his amazing story

A story with heart
Half-year since 9/11 is special day for Goodwin
By Mark Dalton
Special to NFL.com
(March, 11, 2002) -- It has been exactly six months since the Sept. 11 attacks that forever changed this nation.
It is also the 60th birthday of a former Buffalo Bills fullback named Doug Goodwin, who played for the team in the mid-1960s.
These two occasions may seem unrelated. However, the life of the one-time Bills player will be forever linked with the events of that dark day.
Doug Goodwin woke up on the morning of Sept. 11 knowing that it was going to be a big day for him, even a life-altering one. However, like thousands of other Americans whose lives were affected by those unspeakable acts of terrorists, it was impossible for him to know that morning how his fate and their hate were on a collision course.
