The Buffalo Bills very quietly used offensive tackle Mike Williams on defense for two goal-line snaps in their shutout victory over New England. And Bills guard Ruben Brown has also worked at defensive tackle in practices. "You try to prepare for everything," said Bills coach Gregg Williams. "For this game, we dressed only three (defensive) tackles, and, given an opportunity to get Mike Williams a 'live' snap on defense, as opposed to just doing it in practice, we figured, why not?" Most teams have roster quotas at every position. But don't be surprised, in coming years, to see teams that want to load up at a position, and carry extra bodies there, compensate by occasionally using linemen on both sides of the ball.

I personally think it's a dumb idea. Just as Howard Simon responded to a caller who said playing Mile Williams was awsome, he said will you be saying it was awsome if Mike Williams got hurt on a play where he shouldn't have been? I totally agree with Simon and i thought the same thing when i saw Williams play defense last Sunday. I can't bielive Gregg Williams is thinking of playing Mike Williams more on defense, and now hes thinking of Ruben Brown too?
Leave the defense to players who are getting paid to play defense. I doubt Mike Williams or Ruben Brown have a bigger effect playing the goalline then a Ron Edwards.
